Show me some amboyna - 07-26-2013, 12:03 PM

Hey guys,

Was wondering if anyone has a cue with amboyna burl points into a maple forearm. I've seen a couple around recently but figured there had to be more. I have a few ideas floating around for such a cue I want built, but I'd like to see some veneer colors for ideas first.

Thanks,
Krishna

This is a James White I owned a few years ago. The bluish-grey veneers were an interesting match to the amboyna.

Thats very pretty Scott. I was thinking of some green and orange veneers: maybe like white, double green, orange, dark brown. Perhaps white, orange, double green, dark brown, who knows.

That Murrell is the reason I thought green veneers would look good with Amboyna, thanks for sharing.

Any others out there?

I still can't decide if I want to go with natural, green, orange, green, dark brown/black veneers (kind of like this hercek that Steve has with a Burton Spain blank: http://forums.azbilliards.com/showth...e+hercek+spain). I think that set of veneers would work very well with a rich brown wood for the points. Maybe if four veneers natural, green, orange black vs natural, green, blue, black. Any suggestions?
