Party Poker also has a strong relationship with the billiards community, sponsoring the World Pool Masters at the Riviera Casino in Las Vegas earlier this month. The event was won by 33 year-old Englishman and reigning World 10-Ball Champion Darren Appleton. PartyGaming will also sponsor the upcoming World Cup of Pool to be held in Manila in September of this year.

Brunswick Billiards has announced that its distinctly intercontinental Zanzibar table is being offered as an exclusive, limited edition product; only 10 of the tables will ever be produced and offered to the public.

The Zanzibar table is inspired by European, Indian and African influences, and includes a rich mix of international woods including European Mappa burl and rails of American Cherry, giving the table its striking presence. Solid hand-textured and etched brass panels surround the aprons and leg pedestals for an elegant, sophisticated feel. Perhaps the most unique feature of the table is its African-inspired brass monkeys, which support the rail next to each pocket. These supports give the table a distinctive flair and bold sense of adventure.

The 9-foot Zanzibar table is available for $24,999 through Brunswick’s cache of specialty retailers or www.brunswickbilliards.com

Yankees believe those that play together will work together better.

The tone changed this spring when Girardi called off practice to sneak his team away as a surprise, chartering buses to a Tampa, Fla., area billiards hall and holding a tournament that Rivera emerged victorious. The presence of newcomers like the exuberant Swisher and several young players has also helped.

"I really think everybody here is pulling in the same direction," Damon said. "It started last year going into the season this year with the day off this spring, getting the club together and becoming better friends -- not only on the field, but off. I think Girardi and the coaching staff have done a great job bringing people and families together."

New Entertainment Complex Opens 5 Event Spaces

Entertainment and nightlife space Exit 66 opened five of its seven in-house event spaces on Friday night in Fort Lauderdale Beach.

License plate-lined stairs lead to the venue’s second floor—housing the Cool Pool and Room 66 spaces—with a V.I.P. area for 30 on the landing. Inspired by Paul Newman’s 1961 film The Hustler, Cool Pool has one wall featuring a façade of motel room doors, six billiards tables, a small bar, and about 10 highboy tables. The room can host 300 for semiprivate events.
