I like it! I use straight pool scoring apps when out
with friends. Don't care for them too much, this would
make me a little happier! As for price and finding enough
people to buy it...well not many play straight, but it looks
real nice. :thumbup:

For sure there's a need. The place I play at has a number of similar home made boxes the straight pool players use all the time. Your design is nicer. If I needed one (already made mine, I think I paid about $20+ship for the counters themselves) I'd pop for about $69, more for a nice, polished hardwood (oak, cherry, walnut) version.
Though they're also nice, a lot of fat fingered people don't care much for the scoring apps.

That mechanism doesn't have a very good history of durability in commercial use. I suppose they would be easy enough to replace in that situation.

Can it sit flat on its back? If it's on a low-ish table I think that would be the best position. It would need rubber feet on the back.

It sits flat.Feet can always be added.
It is a red mahogany stain.

I made something similar back in the 90s, using a small plastic carrying case that was lying around my workshop (likely came with some small power tool). Flexible plastic was easy to cut with a boxknife for thumbwheel install, it was deep/stable enough to stand up so scores could be seen, had a carrying handle, and was also handy to transport misc. items in (chalk, gloves, tip shaper, etc.). Essential if you visited newer rooms with non-Brunswick tables & played 14.1. It disappeared over the years (likely left behind somewhere when I had to give up playing due to severe tennis elbow). Might make another someday if a similar case ever turns up.
