DCC Master of the Table update 2020 - Thorpe in the lead - 01-31-2020, 02:08 AM

Right now, after winning the 1 pocket and 3rd in banks, Billy Thorpe is in the lead with 200.3....

Dennis O is close behind with 150 after his win in banks but a not-the-greatest showing in 1 pocket....

Even Lunda with 121
Justin Hall with 120.

Am I reading this correctly, that Billy could win the master of the table with a 4th place or better finish in 9 ball? Even if Dennis flat out wins 9 ball?

Scoring just Banks and 1p, Billy has 200 and Dennis has 140.

So Dennis has to beat Billy by 60pts in 9b.

3rd is 80pts
16th is 20pts

So if Dennis gets 3rd, Billy needs around 16th to stay even. Dennis wins 1st, Billy would need sole 4th to stay even.

Billy has 1 loss already going into Round 3.

A lot of big names, so top 3 Dennis will need to be in top form.

Who did Billy lose to in nine ball, and was it in round 1 or round 2?

How many 9 ball survivors are there as of now? Any idea who's going to be on the Accu-Stats table at noon?

More 3rd matches is at 10am. So noon is probably Round 4.

Still a lot of players. If everyone bought back, probably 250+.

Final 16 for 1p was the 8th round exit for Dennis. 351 players in 1p.

Billy would need to 4 more wins to get into round 8. Which he is more than capable. It just gets leary if he draws someone like Filler or Shaw.

Wow. That's a cool narrative. The two leaders for MOT drew each other right out of the gate.

I expected him to do better in 9 ball--especially without the Taiwanese players, and Gorst/Kaci and other Euros (Niels, Albin, Ruslan, etc )that didn't make the trip

I looked at the updated 9 ball list here....

http://results.derbycityclassic.com/.../MOTReport.asp

Billy is listed with the 46ers and his name isn't highlighted so I'm assuming that's where he finished.
