Balabushka Veneers?

Hi all,

I recently got to check out an old Balabushka that had four veneers. Usually, when you see George's cues, it is pretty easy to determine whose blanks he used. He obviously used Titlist, Spain, Davis, Gus and from what I understand, a few of his own blanks.

This cue had shorter black, natural, black, natural veneers, much like they used on a few old Palmers.

Any thoughts on who might have made a forearm like this?

Thanks!

Steve

My guess would be a Burton Spain blank.
I've seen Spain blanks with those veneer colors

Gus used that combination on some of his finest cues

No telling what you have but George made a few like that and might have
used some Verl Horn supplies as well

I'm not aware that George many any forearm blanks himself. That said, anything is possible.

If you got a look at the cue, the more identifiable variable that would solve the mystery is generally the length of the points. Spain blanks generally have shorter points than Gus or Davis. Usually your best clue, but the colors are important too. A picture would be worth a thousand words.

All the best,

Any pics of a Horn or Balabushka front cue? That makes 6 possible fronts on a Balabushka.
