What she said after that quote.

http://badamerican.wordpress.com/200...not-patriotic/

"...Then last week Obama’s wife Michelle told voters in Milwaukee, “For the first time in my adult life, I am really proud of my country. Not just because Barack is doing well, but I think people are hungry for change.”

After that comment, Cindy McCain, the wife of presumed GOP nominee Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., told a crowd, “I have, and always will be, proud of my country.”..."

Born on January 17, 1964, Michelle Robinson was raised in a one-bedroom apartment on Chicago's South Shore.

Of note is that she shared a "bedroom" with her brother, but it wasn't much of a bedroom. It was actually the living room with a divider down the middle. Michelle's father died in 1990 two years before she married Barack, but her mother is still alive and living in the same one-bedroom apartment, protected by a burglar-proof wrought-iron door and secured windows.

Michelle Robinson was born in Chicago, Illinois to Frasier Robinson (who died in 1990),[1] a city water plant employee and Democratic precinct captain, and Marian Robinson, a secretary at Spiegel's catalog store

I guess your idea of Upper Class and mine differ slightly. Irregardless, I don't care if you are talking about the richest black person in America, or you are talking about the most poor among them, they've all felt the effects of this countries discrimination towards minorities.

Since Barack and Michelle are now multi-millionaires, why do they let Michelle's mother continue to live under those conditions? What does this say about them? (I am assuming your info is correct.)

No, you don't HAVE to watch the video to have an opinion, just a relevant one.

If Barrack doesn't want his wife attacked ,she shouldn't be out there attacking others.Thats how the liberals operate . Liberals love to call conservatives racists. It changes the whole conversation .If people choose to disagree with Barrack and his wife that doesn't make them racist.I for one am sick of that crap. How is the country suppose to move forward ? Liberals love to blame the USA for everything around the world. If liberals think this country is so bad ,why don't they go to another country?

This may well be true. However the Obama's have faced and overcome the adversity in there lives and are now far wealthier than most Americans. The same country in which they experienced discrimination also afforded them the opportunity to rise to the highest rungs of the economic ladder. Tonight Barack is going to announce that he is victorious and is the presumptive democrat nominee for president.
I believe most people think that Mrs. Obama's remarks appear disingenuous considering her status in society.
Will Obama's rise to nominee be greeted as a sign that there is a decline in racism in the US? I doubt it. If he wins the presidency probably not. If he is defeated by McCain it will be said that America has a long way to go because its still a white mans club.
All the while it will be glossed over about how the Obama's rose from their humble beginnings to the highly successful individuals that they are.
You see for some, it is never about being equal. Its about getting even. All you have to do is look across the planet and observe all the blood feuds in progress at this very minute to realize there is some truth to to this statement.

Keep your head down and admire the shot.

You keep beating the "racism/bigotry in America" drum and claiming this racism is pervasive today. How about supplying some examples?
If it is so pervasive you should have no trouble. But on the other hand, if, as I suspect, this charge of racist America is just liberal dogma to keep the "victims' beholdin' to the democrat party, then you're not going to be able to come up with much.

Your move PJ.

Great post. For the first time in my life I'm proud to be part of this forum.

Wait!... That's not what I meant! Not really the first!
It's just... o sh*t, I'm busted!
No, no, that's not what I meant!
I just meant... you guys knew what I meant , didn't you?

I guess growing up upper middle class in a one bedroom apartment and an outhouse with 14 brothers and sisters tends to make me a liitle uppity at times.
