Anybody know what model this is?

Same butt sleeve as an M-12, but with colored veneers, the M-12 has black and natural veneers. It is a piloted 5/16x14 pin by the way. Yes, I am sure it is a Mali.

I do have an M-12 as well.

No thoughts?

It looks like a T-12 forearm with an M-12 butt sleeve. I am really wondering if this appeared in any catalog.

Chop, I have most of the old Mali brochures. I'll scan them in after work for you.

Many thanks to WildWing for posting the pics from the catalogs. I now know that the two
old Mali's that I purchased from CL ($7 each) are an M12 from the 2nd catalog (post 42)
and a T14 from the 3rd catalog (post 46). I wondered many times about the age of these
two cues and supposed they were from the eighties, but now I know! By the way, I play
with the M12 occasionally and that thing has a really solid hit.l

My apologies; got wrapped up with the kids last evening.
I have the brochures out on the computer; I'll scan them this evening.

Doc, it looks like you have the mother of all Mali hybrids.

First, the joint looks more like T-13, with steel and dashed rings on the outside of the collars. T-12 joint was white plastic of some kind, with a solid ring. T-14 had the same dashed rings, but standard was a white plastic joint.

The points look like T-14, looks like ebony.

The buttsleeve looks like M-12, different series as you know. However, on that series, the dash rings inside the joint collars were centered, not closer to the edges of the collars.

Given that your buttplate does not have the Mali logo, a couple possibilities. One, it was a custom order to Mali to combine a few things the customer wanted. Two, it could have been a significant repair job that would have changed some original parts, but quite a few. Maybe something more definitive will surface.

By the way, how do you know it's a Mali?

All the best,
WW

Everything is correct down to the butt cap material, bumper, weight bolt, joint rings, wrap, veneers...everything is Mali as far as I can tell. So I say it's a Mali.

Mali hybrid?
Custom Mali?
Franken Mali?

Anyway. ...Mali.

My first thought is that it left the shop as is, so I am looking for catalogs or brochures not yet posted.

But in any case it's an awsome playing cue. I am thrilled with it.

Just hoping to figure out what kind of Mali it is exactly.

OK.

Couple more pics of a Mali while we wait for more catalog scans.

Sorry bad pics. Gotta make time to take some good cue pics.

Notice the figure in the butt sleeve. Unusual in this model. Cue is in great shape.

I have more around here somewhere but arm twisting might be involved to show them. :D

Sorry, guys, as it turns out I don't have much to add that hasn't been already shared. I know I have the gold letter brochure somewhere, and the other green box brochure. I'll keep looking.

Doc, believe yours is the T-15. I have the same catalogs as Buster, and it's consistent with that model. The key identifier is the joint collar dash rings, which are on the outside of the collars. There is an earlier M Series, by the way, where this same cue has joint dash rings in the center of the collar. I'll post that if you like, maybe I already have.

On your earlier cue, I tend to agree that it's a Mali, especially if you've looked at the bumper and weight bolt. It doesn't seem to fit any specific model though. Although Mali cues are not what you'd consider rare, that earlier one may be unique.

All the best,
WW

Here’s mine, rosewood is outstanding, especially the figured stuff near the bumper. Bottom is a bit out of round, the joint is aluminum, pretty messed up and tarnished. Hits awesome though, kind of like a cue made today

Thanks-

Yes, I am thinking T-15.

Indeed they are not rare, but fun to own/collect/play when you find them cheap.

Yes, I did get under the bumper...it's a Mali bumper...and the weight bolt looks Mali too. May be unique. Definitely a cool cue and plays extremely well. I won all my races last Sunday with it. Only lost three racks total. I am very pleased with the cue.
