Where is he now? Commentators really make him sound awful.

I think he kind of left the scene for a while. I saw him at the DCC a couple years ago. I heard he was 'born again' and quit gambling.

I did not watch the whole match, but what do you mean by 'make him sound awful'? As a player or person?

He's born again, alright. He's been here preaching, mostly in the NPR section. Haven't heard anything of him in a while. I had a few pms back and forth with him, not really a problem. Used to be a very strong player at one time.

He was a monster player from what I hear. I believe he quit gambling at pool (still plays poker). He gave up pool gambling when he found religion. I wish he would still play consistently. I would have loved to see where he could have went with it.

He was at the derby a few years ago and after a long layoff still ended up top 10-20 in every discipline IIRC. If not top 10 he was real close. It was 2006 or 2007. Jay Helfert would know. He put him in the tourney.

Hmmm. Are you saying that poker is blessed, but pool is not? I guess you have to ask 'what would Jesus do?' Jesus would bet it all on the river...

I pretty sure it was 2007 at the derby, that Jay put mark Tadd in( I remember he was using Jay's New cue from Mike Stacy- Mark was having the tip changed-practicing with it. John Schmidt was there, R. Wiseman ,Buddy Hall, Grady , Efren, Alex, Tony, Shane, Scott F. and 400 others. It was the last Derby before the Casino stuff. About 4 blocks away was the best Sandwich spot around. The action was non-stop. John Pinegar(and that crazy Hat, I met Chris Bartrum that yr. Billy Incardonia, Ronnie Allen, Strong Arm John, and Slim(from Detroit). I actually sold a 1980's Joss Shaft, just like Shane was using on His mothers (r-4 Ebony Schon. It was a Super yr for Shane. He won many tournements that yr. Shane played in the banks too , had Frost stuck- but Frost came back.

Mark Tadd(emy)

I remember Mark from the late 80's when I ran into him as a young kid in Salt Lake City. He was a great talent who went by the name of Mark Tademy at that time, and just walked around the city (no car), with his old schon cue with the busted off butt cap over his shoulder, entering ring games and tournaments with the likes of 'surfer Rod Curry' and others of that level. I remember him getting in a ring game and just running racks until everyone quit. He never even took off his jacket. I mean really, at least you can take off your jacket, right? An incredible pool talent, I've heard he had less game when it came to the other gambling pursuits. Not sure about the religion, that must have come later-but he sure can play pool.

How old is that video? The first ever Bicycle Invitational, players breaking with their playing cues, and Jay in the booth sounded like his balls hadn't dropped yet. :grin-square:

Awesome new match. This guy (Mark Tadd) shoots from the hip like me, but man is he moody. Where is he now? Commentators really make him sound awful. Very entertaining match, great to see Kim in action. Kind of rare to see matches of him online.

rep to you my friend for linking this awesome match, i wouldn't knew it exist, this is the bicycle 1992 tournament if i'm not mistaken, if not, it can be close, but i'm sure its around 92-93 and this is really my favorite times with pool, I love the 90's matches, love watching them, they are simply EPIC in my eyes.

on a second note, is that Mark Tadd who I hear so many stories about, I heard at one point of his life he would practice on a table for 10 hours only BREAKING, and people would ask him, how can you practice 10 hrs just the Break shot, he then will say, that he doesn't miss shots, and if break works for him, nobody could ever beat him.

What a big statement, a guy who says that is a confident man, and i respect him for that if this story is true.

The year he came to the derby I asked a lot about him. I was told a story by a pretty reputable person. He said when Tadd was playing his best (I believe it was around the time of this video, early 90's) that he went into the practice room at a major tournament and offered everyone the 7. This was the top players, Archer, Davenport, etc. and nobody took him up on it. If that is true, that is a strong testament to his then playing ability.

Thanks guys. Yes, this is from the 92 Bicycle Casino (I live 4 miles from there, but they don't have events here anymore). You guys haven't seen this match because I just posted it to my channel. I watched it a few days ago, and noticed that this kid was a powerhouse. I mean, how does he play so good, and I had never heard of him? I uploaded because I wanted the world to see his game, and remind those who were around in his time what he was like. He had a chance to beat Kim, but instead beat himself. Very unfortunate. I wish he would have matured and made some big marks on the Pro Tour. Thanks all for the reps. Enjoy and subscribe! I highly recommend the "Fast & Loose" series of shots.

I remember watching this before.. I had bought it from Accu-stats to watch online. Mark Tadd was/is a gifted player, no doubt there.

But wasn't Tadd kinda like a firefly on the scene?

Admittedly, a real big bug, but wasn't his run limited to a couple years?

No, I don't want to play him tomorrow.

Haha. Made me laugh. And yea, he seems like a player that would have burt on the scene and then faded by the mid to late 90s.
