Reading Capelle's "plan your best 9-ball" his appendix explains Fleming's accu-stats. Basically it is successful shots divided by total shots. As of the writing of the book (2001) there were very few pros in the .950 club (9) with Mika scoring the only perfect game. A lot of pros score in the 900's. I was just wondering what range top amateurs would score in? And how about the range for A and B players? And then where would a typical 4 or 5 APA player fall in? Jake

Buddy Hall says that world class players average .850 or more....shortstop caliber players around .750....i guess top amateurs would fall around .750 to slightly lower.
I am absolutely shocked that Mika scored a perfect 1000, better check with Pat on that one. I can tell you this for a fact. Wade Crane was the first player to ever score a 1000, but it was in a race to 7. A few years later, Allen Hopkins did the same thing, but in a longer race, I thought it was 11, but in those days(the 80's), it may have been 9. To my knowledge these are the only two perfect matches ever played that were scored using the Accu-Stats system. Naturally, Earl's million dollar runout and Archer's 13 and out would qualify for 1000 if they were actually scored.
Well I personally saw Mika run 9 racks last year in Orlando. Actually I couldn't see the first 6 because they were on a table at the end but the last three were right in front of me. According to Capelle the .950 club started in 1998 and Mika scored his 1.000 at the 2001 Derby City Classic III. He also had a .983 there. I am sure that others have scored perfect 1.000 games but they just were not filmed/scored by Fleming. The next highest is Nick Varner with a .977 at the 2001 Masters 9-ball Championships. And guess who is next highest on the list. Good old Allison Fisher with a .970 at the 1999 WPBA Prescott. Keep in mind this book was published in Jan 2002. I wonder if Fleming has an up to date list of the players he has scored? It would also be interesting to see some of the really bad scores. Jake

I have a tape of Corey where he scored in the .960 to .970 range at the Derby in '02. You see higher scores usually in shorter races, although you still see some high scores in long races. there were some really high scores at the Masters....and those were races to 13....I also have a tape of Efren and Ralf where they both scored above .900 in the semifinals
