I reached the place on saturday around 1:30 pm.After checking in I went to AZB room.Eydie and Holly were managing the place and as usual they are very nice and friendly. There are other AZbers hitting the balls. It is a very nice room and nice arrangement. Thanks to Mike Howerton.Later in the evening I ran into Linda`the queen` carter in AZB room.
For the first time I met Our AZPosters Timberly and the `Corner Man`.
On the first day itself I ran into many known faces at the tournament site.Had dinner with some female pro players.
Last night I saw Shane .V Vs Dennis Orcullo in action on a Bar table.I saw the game only for a brief period as I was buisy socializing with others.I do not know any details on that match.
What I see at Splash bar stays at Splashbar and will not be reported here.
I am not good in writing the details of what is going on here.
can some one pick this thread from here and continue?

But I have to wait til VNEA. It would be nice to go and stay there the whole month like a few of my friends do, but thats not possible for some of us. Do you know if they're gonna have a room for Vnea tourney too?

Just talked to Shane. They played 8 ball race to 15 alternate break. Shane won 2 sets. 1st set 15-14 for $500. 2nd set 15-10 for $1200.

He did it on his own dime too.

That is a pretty impressive win he just booked. I was very impressed with his play at DCC and he seems to be getting better. I told everyone in Louisville that would listen to bet on him playing Appleton. His 8 Ball game is on par with about anyone right now and it isn't because he dissects the racks methodically he just doesn't miss anything he shoots at. He is a lot of fun to watch.

BTW-- What time does the pro event begin today?

you know what is really impressive, thats the 3rd time shane has played him!and he would keep playin him! thats what seperates most players, to be the best you have to beat the best! he just beat 1 of the best! now we will see what happens next! stay tuned! lol
PS......they played on a "BAR BOX" didnt they! and cory would give shane the 8! why wont he play denise evan? jamie must have heard the news by now! wonder if he is licking his chops for jays bet now? i somehow doubt it!:D

I also made my way up to the AZB room. Nice setup and a nice place to relax in between matches. We played a few ring games and I lifted some coins from the Queen's and others vaults. :) Very nice just being able to relax and overlook the arena.

My first opponent was too scared to show up so I won by forfeit. :D I then won 5-2, 5-0. Play again this evening at 7:30.

I know this has been said before but 8 Ball is a totally different animal than 9 Ball. I will venture to say that SVB wants no part of Dennis playing anything you have to shoot in order on any table. That in no way takes away from Shane beating a stone cold champ.

last night Alice Rim was waiting for her match to be played on the table Jeremy jones was playing. As soon as duble J`s match completed Alice went to the table and put her cue and all other stuff on the coffee table or what ever u call it.Jeremy packed his stuff inluding part of alice`s cue( Butt or shaft) and left the tournament area and by the time alice realized Double J was already gone. Then Alice`s sister ran the hallways and finally found double J in that huge crowd in the casino and got her parts back.Thought that was funny.

I won both of my matches yesterday against two very good players 5-3 and 5-2. Took me making all three of my attempted jump shots in the matches to get the seperation games. Finally down to the last 64 left on the winners bracket. I know two of the players left from our local regional tourneys and they are good players. Play again today at noon. They finally posted the amounts something like this. $10.8K, $8K, 6K, $4.7K, $4K, etc, etc. Think I am at about $275 or so right now. NOT GOOD ENOUGH!!

My friend Robert lost both his matches yesterday and is out of the tourney. A combination of his poor play and his opponents good play.

My speed pool time of 1 min 5 secs was beat at 1 min 3 secs. LAAAAME:D

UW,
Firstly, congratulations on a fine showing. Good results; and if the speed pool time was on a tight 9-footer, that was AWESOME.

Can I ask about your view of playing in this event? I am thinking of playing next year; but I find the singles at the state level to be exceedingly boring (its hard to take time off work, and playing just 2 matches seems almost a waste of time). Is two matches in a day par for the course? I would rather play more pool than that. I found the team events to offer a lot more play for the money.

Good luck.

I don't know

if any of you have checked out the men's brackets off the front page, but their are some tough matchups in the 2nd round, and should be real good ones. There are just too many for me to name. Go look at them.

And the person that said Shane didn't want any part of Dennis playing 9 ball has got to be kidding me. At that level, it usually doesn't make any bit of difference. A player might play one slightly better than the other, but the biggest difference would probably be the break.

I heard about Shane's match with Dennis, right after it ended. I talked to Shane on the phone yesterday morning. He never fails to amaze me, that's why I love him. I didn't want to post this on here, because I didn't want to knock Shane's action, but too late now.

Shane's game continues to improve, and he continues to work on being a better player. He is not interested in all the talk about how big or little Pool is. He justs wants to play, and good players too. I expect him to be the best player in the USA within two years. Who knows how good he will become? Anything is possible with this young man. He just keeps getting better, and he is fearless.

Bold prediction, but I tend to agree with you. He is strong. The best is a very strong statement however.
