Great Pool this weekend in Faribault, MN at Spikes Bar and Grill. The Peschauer (ACS) All American Tour Stop had 48 players with a lot of heavy hitters.

US Open Champ and one of my personal favorite players Shane VanBoening led a list of some of Minnesota, Iowa, Wisc, North Dakota and IL prestige players.

Others in attendance are Derek McMaster, Jamie Pluta, Tony Zierman, Marc Oelslager, Ritchie Cunningham, Bob Romano, John Stich and many other champion players - too numerous to mention. The game was 8-ball, race to 5, double elimination. Shane had to race to 7 just to make it fair to the amateur players. As the luck of the draw would have it, Shane ran into Marc Oelslager in his first match of the day. Marc (ole) is a former ACUI Collegiate champion pool player in addition to achieving a couple national championships. Marc put Shane in the one-loss side early by taking advantage of his 2-game spot and capping a 7-5 victory.

As play continued into the night, players that got knocked out continue to party and cheer on their tournament favorites. Full results will be issued after the tournament completes on Sunday afternoon.

Spikes Bar and Grill is the latest adventure of John Stich (MN new ACS President) who has been in the pool circuit for many years. Valley tables, good music, great bar menu, excellent staff, all the latest pub games, darts and more. John published "Chalk Talk Magazine" which circulated the Midwest for many years. He has also been involved with The Windy City Open and many others since their creation.

This is THE place to come when in the area!

On a side note, received a call about 10pm last night that Eric Durbin was at Shooter's in Burnsville barking about playing SVB for 20,000. I got in contact with Shane and he stated that he had no idea Durbin was in town but would like to play him.

Upon arriving at Shooter's Durbin only wanted to play 300/game one pocket or 150/game last pocket 8-ball. SVB agreed to play him last pocket 8-ball and won the first 2 games. Durbin quit, stating that he would like to play SVB one pocket for 3000. The stake was put up on SVB's behalf, however Durbin and his backer left stating that they would be there this morning to play the game. I doubt the game goes off, but will keep az updated if anything does occur.

ACS Presents The J. Pechauer All American Tour Results from
Spikes Bar & Grill

The eighteenth stop on the 2007/2008 Pechauer All American Tour (produced by the American CueSports Alliance – ACS) was hosted at Spikes Bar & Grill in Faribault, MN, on Saturday, December 1. The $1,500 added event drew forty-one men ($1,000 added) and seven women ($500 added) in a double-elimination 8-ball format on 7-foot bar boxes. In the men’s division, Demetrius Jelatis (Brooklyn Park, MN) cruised undefeated to the finals. In the hot-seat match, Jelatis eased past Matt Benton (Faribault, MN) 5-2. Earlier in the A-bracket semi-finals, Jelatis overpowered Rich Cunningham (Blaine, MN) 5-1, while Benton clipped Mike Fieldhammer (Brooklyn Park, MN) 5-4. In the B-side bracket quarterfinals John Meyer (St. Louis Park, MN) and Mike Fieldhammer dispatched Rich Cunningham and Jamie Pluta into 5th place by identical 5-3 scores. In the loser’s semifinals Fieldhammer eliminated John Meyer 5-2, but Mike’s march was stopped in the B-side finals by Matt Benton 5-3. The tourney finals could have gone either way, but Demetrius Jelatis claimed the deciding game in the first set over Matt Benton 5-4 for the title.

In the women’s division, Chrissy Pluta (Eden Prairie, MN) claimed the hot seat by outpointing Angela Jackson (Eau Claire, WI) 4-2. In the previous round, Jackson had turned back Bonnie Biers while Pluta outpointed Tabby Benton. In the B-side semifinals Mary Tonjum (Faribault, MN) eliminated Kellie Jones (Faribault, MN) 4-3; but in turn Mary was ousted in the B-side finals by Angela Jackson 4-1. Angela Jackson had to defeat Chrissy Pluta two sets for the title in the tourney finals, and she had what it took, claiming 4-2 and 4-3 decisions over Pluta for the title.

By virtue of Demetrius Jelatis and Angela Jackson being the highest-finishing ACS members in the event, they each qualified for a free singles entry into the 2008 ACS Nationals in Las Vegas – courtesy of the ACS. The ACS wishes to thank sponsors J. Pechauer Custom Cues, Championship Billiard Fabric and Nick Varner Signature Cases for their support in donating “Value-In-Kind” product for this and all stops on the Pechauer All American Tour. Sponsorship opportunities are still available for the 2007/2008 All American Tour by contacting the ACS.

well two games going to seven is pretty strong and even the best bar table player in the world couldnt out run that spot. He made some mistakes against marc o. he lost to mcmaster too, who I would imagine have play ed many times. the typical nerves most would get, probably did not come into play.

it was a solid field. would of liked to see more players, but was another well run tourney. would of liked to see it get done in one day though, but who am I to complain? I did not have to play sunday.

Oh yeah and that older guy who I am told is a legend in Minn., john meyer, boy can he play. very impressed. good guy too. actually everybody at the tourney showed alot of class. it was fun.

I agree Mike, very well run. There would have been most likely 30 more players at this event. But due to the weather (pure ice and snow) it haulted many players from attending. It was good to see you and hope to see you at this years Windy City Open.
