Congratulations to Dennis Orcullo for winning Japan Open 2008 held in Tokyo yesterday and today.
It is quite a big tournament, joined by close to 600 professional and amateur pool players here in Japan, as well as several Taiwanese and Philippine players.
Most of the leading Philippine players were here - Efren Reyes, Django Bustamante, Nikoy Lining, Bebeng Gallego, Ronnie Alcano, Roel Esquillo, Warren Kiamco, Alex Pagulayan, Roberto Gomez, Gandy Valle, Lee Van Corteza and DonDon Razalan. Also here were several other Fil amateur players.
Dennis took home 1.5M yen (about 15K US$). Quite a good month for Dennis since he just won US$10K for winning the SMB 1st Quezon City Championship a few days ago.
I'm wondering what happened to Antonio Gabica and Jeff deLuna. Wasn't it published in the newspapers that they were being sent to participate in this tournament? http://www.azbilliards.com/2000storya.cfm?storynum=5209
