You're not wrong. I don't know why the pocket specs are always such a mystery, but they are. It's weird because the pocket size doesn't matter to me since the table is clearly being purposely setup to resemble what previous greats played on. That makes total sense to me. What doesn't make sense, is all the back and forth about the pockets when every human being on the planet can simply walk up to a table and take a picture with a known object as a reference, you know like -- 2 balls between the points of the pockets.

Maybe they just want us yammering on about it.
It's the kind of feat that is directly linked to the size of one's pockets, everyone understands that. It would be very simple to show it to everyone at the start of the attempts, those who are really interested like to know these details. As far as I am concerned, the fact of not being able to see the true size of the pockets takes away all credit from this said feat. You have to take your word for it, so keep your video of the run to yourself, we'll take your word for it.

heyball contradicts that. pockets are 3.5" and rounded and the best still run out. either from their own or from their opponents break. there are no indications it's popular outside china, despite big efforts from the promotor JOY to present it well.

i agree that pockets can't be too soft and around 4" makes sense to me but the element to tweak in my opinion, looking at the WNT in particular, is the shot clock. speed it up. have shot clocks on all table. those that can't adapt, tough luck. the next generation will be fast, and fast play is entertaining
As far as regular pool tables it really makes little difference to me shooting on 4.5, 4.25 or 4.0 pockets. I'm sure it means even less to the pros. For me it's just harder to exploit pocketing the ball to one side to force position and definitely harder to pocket on shallow angles into the hole.

I had a Chinese 8 ball table in my pool hall. The better players who used it for 9 ball would run out pretty much like they did on a regular table....only a little less often.

I think the harder pockets keep your attention more. For sure the game is a hell of alot better than on Gold Crown 5 inch buckets.

I happen to like Bobby. I consider him a good friend. He’s a hardcore life long pool player, knows his stuff and has stood the test of time in the pool world.

But let’s pretend I didn't like him(which is NOT the case). His word is still gold, taking friendship out of the equation. The facts are the facts. And Bobby isn’t revising anything or gaffing up a table. He’s honorable and an asset to pool. He was in Jayson’s corner and racking for him, all good racks, nothing funny to “help” Jayson’s break.

The last thing Bobby needs is any help defending himself: point is in this matter he shouldn’t even be questioned beyond a simple look at the equipment. It was an old GC in mint condition, 760 as stated, all criteria was met and Jayson performed.

I’m still thrilled I got to see it live, that’s nothing I’ll ever forget even if 1000 balls is reached. It was all good from my perspective. If it wasn’t, I’d say something.

it is indeed a world record.
ive got to give credit to bobby that he set up the conditions to be relatively constant and repeatable for others to try in their own environments.

as all records they get broken one day. especially important ones as many dedicate to doing it.

this one will fall soon enough as well. who will it be, who knows. that will be the interesting thing.

I don't care what size the pockets are. Most players head would explode after 300, if they get to 300.
Less experienced not included, they would have a heart attack at 60.

interesting stuff! miz had an incredible stroke. for these high runs, it seems that a too aggressive break is detrimental. it will eventually get you. the thorsten boom draw break will result in a scratch eventually
All runs end at some point, whats the point?

Do you have any idea how small the # of players that have run 300 is? Rhetorical, not a dig at you 👍

Please post you +300 run, we'll wait.

I could take the whole left side of the table off and not run 600.

100% agree, Bobby is top notch and beyond reproach.

It was nice watching it live with you, the reruns will be just as amazing. Truly a generational talent.

Took a pic of him with 2 of my buddies ar TS, he's in good spirits and sjm is sitting in the stands with his life. Winning!

sjm is one of my favorite people in pool. I met him maybe 15 years ago I’d guess. Could be longer. I’m honored to call him a friend. I’ve been lucky to meet some great people in pool over the years. I don’t take that for granted. Of course I’ve seen my fair share of phonies, but they get weeded out fast enough.
