A word of gratitude from "THE HILLBILLY."

Hey Ya'll,
I just wanted to drop a line to all of my fans saying Thank you sooooo much for all of your support. I hope Derby City was as much fun for ya'll as it was for me. I must have signed about a million autohgraphs! You're support and presence was not only seen, but greatly felt and appreciated. I really enjoyed talking to each one of you.
However, I would like to apologize for my lazyness in being available on the forum. I just want to reassure everyone that I haven't forgotten about ya'll, but that I've been REALLY busy working on my book, giving private lessons, and seminars while I have been home. As some of you may know, I am also the teaching pro in Houston Tx., for the APA, so they keep me pretty busy as well. They have over 1500 players in their league who take private and group lessons. They also keep my busy with their own league-weekend tournaments that I attend when I am in town. (Just a little "heads up information for ya'll.)
Anyway, know that my new intentions are to be available on the forum at least two to three times a week when I am in town. I will be getting a lap top when I return from my next trip. I will be gone beginning on February 19th and will not return until March 7th. Unfortunately, I will not have computer access until I return, unless Amanda and I are able to discuss what is posted on the forum so that I can tell her how to reply for me. Again, if the GOOD Lord's Willing and the Creek Don't Rise, when I return, I won't have to worry about computer access, because I should have my laptop by then.
I look foreward to seeing and chatting with ya'll at my upcoming events.

God Bless,
Hillbilly

Good to hear from you, Charlie! Good luck in Pittsburgh. We will not be going, but I wish you and all of the competitors a GREAT tournament! :)

Charlie, Thanks for the report.

I watched your match against Trevor (Smith?) in Lousville. You played pretty sporty.

Good luck in all your future endeavors.

Charlie good luck this year it was great to meet you at the Glass City Open 2004. You played great, maybe this year I will get to play you LOL. Again good luck this year!

A future champion

Charlie, I predicted Jeremy and Gabe would be future champions and both won the US Open. I have the same opinion of your game due to great ability, character, and work ethic. Go get em, Hillbilly.....Humphrey

I appreciate that Wally. I am confident in my game, but
I never rule out an opportunity to learn something new. I'm my own worst critic and continue to strive to make peace with my mental game. Although there is much controversy amongst players showing anger, (toward oneanother)I almost NEVER have reason to blame anyone for my own mistakes.
I'm not perfect, and am completely willing to admit that even at this level, I'm still only human. When I have a bad day, or don't play well, I can only blame myself. :)

What's up?

Derby City was a great tournament for me this year, although I've placed higher in the past year or so, I met many new people and ran into sooooo many old friends that supported me throught the entire week of tournaments!
What a pleasure it was to talk to ya'll. Thanks for being one of those people. See you on the road.
God Bless You,
Hillbilly

Thank you

As me, a Friend of mine and his girlfriend watched Charlie play on the TV table at DCC, Mary started a conversation with a lady sitting close to us. Turns out it was Charlie's fiancee. She was an incredibly nice lady. Charlie lost the match and Mary said maybe she should wait and get his autograph later. She was told to go ahead and he would be happy to sign it. As we approached him I couldn't help but think we should wait until later. This guy had just lost a heartbreaker and he seemed to be on top of the world as he signed his name for us. There is the heart and soul of a true champion. With his attitude alone, he made me a fan {not to mention that he's an incredible player}. This is the type of person who can do incredible things for our sport. I wish Charlie and his fiancee the best in life and a long and profitable career in pool. I too, believe he'll be a U.S. Open champion in the near future.

On a side note: most of the top players at DCC, were very friendly and signed posters and magazines for people with a friendly and gracious attitude. I heard that a couple of players were actually asking for payment to sign an autograph, shame on you. If someone asks you for 10 or 20 pieces to be signed I can understand, but 1 or 2 pieces you should be happy they asked you. Just my opinion.
Keep up the good work Charlie, Sam

Satman,
I obtained about 30 autographs at DCC (on cue balls for my basement pool room - you should visit if you get a chance). Only Buddy Hall and Mike Sigel asked for cash. I believe both are weary of seeing their autographed memorabilia sold on e-bay when they are not getting a cut. Thanks to Charlie B.; he was very pleasant and accomodating.
