Americans - are you happy with what Matchroom is doing with Pool ?

One thing to keep in mind that if our dreams come true and matchroom does successfully develop a world 9 ball tour with a full calendar of events paying good prize money, they won’t be able to schedule around everything. Similarly the WST (world snooker tour) doesn’t check to make sure they are scheduling around pro-ams. If we got a pool tour similar to the snooker tour, conflicts will occur.

that's called a good problem to have - too many events competing for limited space on the calendar. (y)

Ever played on black cloth??? Agreed that red is the worst, but black is a close second.
I was going to say exactly that as well, I just left it off the post. Black is horrible, red just one small click worse.

Good point!

1) Ditch the grey cloth 2) Ditch the wrong-colored balls 3) Ditch the Rasson & Predator tables Otherwise, GREAT!

As of right now, yes. When they first came on the scene and took some things over they had schedule conflicts with currently existing events... and still do a bit with the CSI USOPEN Stuff this time.

I know there are a ton of events and they need to work around those and the venues availability as well, as long as they do the best to avoid those and not purposefully schedule on top of them then I continue to see them as a good thing.

Not to mention, based on the Karl/Emily interview, it seems like she is really trying to do what the players/fans want in regards to equipment and rules and still create very marketable events to sponsors... unlike the Race to 4/Spot shot shootout Pred US Billiard Series which seems to be trying to market itself to major TV players more then being what the players and fans want. I think Matchroom found the happy medium.

And I love the template rack for the early rounds and hand racking by ref for the end rounds as well as increasing the race in the later rounds too. Bringing back the 1 balls on the spot and breaking from anywhere behind the line... love that stuff. Get to see the players string more packages.

Edit... not that my opinion really matters in any of this. I just like watching good pool. The Matchroom World format was just that.
Scheduling on top of other events is the only chance an American other than SVB can win an event. All the other US "pros" gotta love it

Agree with everything except the cloth. I prefer the shark about 1000 times more than the blue. Green would be my 1st choice

i didn't think it would look good on tv. i played on another shade of grey simonis for some years in the pool club, and while it was great for seeing the balls, it got real dirty real quick. this one looked great though.

i've also grown to appreciate the yellow-black 9-ball. it stands out. purple 5 is still too crazy for me

Does anyone know if they are going to use that Ugly black ball set at the World 8 ball?
No, as the World 8-ball is being run as part of the CSI/Predator series (alongside the 10-ball Puerto Rico Open), so it will use the Predator Arcos II set as the recent World 10-ball. Much more traditional looking, with a purple 4 and an orange 5.

I got the DAZN membership for $99 a year and then I set a reminder on my phone for the date every one of the events begins. There is a Calendar that shows all of the events and $99 a year is totally worth it. Matchroom is the Messiah of pool.

Agreed, DAZNs stream quality could be a little better, but their content is superb even if you're not a boxing fan. Pool, darts and snooker are all entertaining.

Yes, traditional colors, but big, ugly cat logos on the balls.

I think it’s the best thing to happen to pool since the camel tour. Pro players playing in arena’s and for prizes worthy of our best. The only thing I don’t like currently in pro pool is the races to 4 with the spot shot nonsense. But the pro’s far out way That single con.
