And Canada has potentially, the strongest tournament tour we have seen in years.

We have discovered that the dates for the first event conflicted with the World Tourney or 14.1 so we are moving the first one to September 20-23. This way the players can play in the 14.1, then go to the Four Bears Classic, and then come to Toronto for the Corner Bank Series.

Jerry,

Can you advise what the reasoning is for Tuesday to Friday for the events rather than over a weekend?

I'm thrilled in any event, but selfishly would prefer to be able to watch the matches during the day on the weekends!

Are these on 9' tables?

Just spoke to Jimmy Wych, Chris.

The tournament will be held on nine-foot ....Diamonds.

Whether it is call-shots or not is to be determined.....:)

The initial September date was moved to later September to accommodate the straight
pool.....so now we know what Charlie Williams is having.
I can't believe Charlie was slow  in getting this info out there.

Several reasons. Our biggest audience will be from the streaming and streaming numbers are better during the week when folks watch it at work. In many events, like Turning Stone, you also get more fans in the room during the week. On weekends folks play golf, mow the lawn, go shopping, do their honey-do's, etc. We realize that this inconveniences some fans but whatever dates you choose will do that. It is never convenient for everyone.

Plus, the Club (The Corner Bank) needs to keep their regulars in mind and not overly inconvenience them from their recreation.

Finally, on most of the weekends surrounding our events there are other tournaments already scheduled and we choose not to infringe upon them.

Oh, and for the fellow who asked, of course the event is on 9-foot tables.

As for seating, we are trying to get Justin Collett to come and everyone can just perch on his shoulders.

In truth, that is a detail on which we are still laboring.

Best,
Jerry

LOL, I would love to make a trip to one of these. Hopefully it's larger field and open. I have never been to Toronto but always wanted to go. My friend and I are trying to plan at least three or four tournament trips this year - Toronto in the fall would be a great trip.

This is a picture of Toronto City Hall.....
...someone said it looked like a urinal for the Jolly Green Giant...
...right now they're having a meeting there with law officials....
...they are considering making Toronto Maple Leaf jokes a felony.

5 x $25,000 Added events.
1 x $100,000 Added events.

Pool in North America Just got a major jump. I truly hope that they don't pay too deep but deep enough. I truly hope that they stream this event on multiple tables at a high quality with commentary. This could be massive for the game. $100 entry wouldn't be unreasonable at all as this large of a prize fund will draw domestic and international players. Really looking forward to this! I'm excited for my friends who play top level pool both here and around the world!
I heard this on Herman's show today.
I AM VERY HAPPY FOR ALL THE PROS / PLAYERS TO HAVE THESE TOURNAMENTS AND MAKE SOME GOOD $$!!!
Way to go Corner Bank!!!

I've spent the last 4 months raving to my local players that the talent pool in Canada specifically the GTA is on another level.

Also, more expensive for players who have full time jobs to play during the week.
That's my excuse. Lol!

Looks like a trip for business

I may have to plan a business trip to see the customer sites in Canada so I can offset some costs and perhaps play in one of the events.

Multiple events at the same location is hardly a tour.

But hey Toronto, have fun with that. You idiots don't think that real pool happens west of the Ontario border.

You guys never fail to amaze me with your provincial thinking.

Want to play some real pool? Come to Alberta you soft wet behind the ears lap dogs.

They taking Taxes out of the winners money if the don't live in Canada

1

Pretty sure they do that (withhold a portion of the winnings for potential taxes) in the US too for non-residents at major tournaments and in other countries as well. International tax issues like this are probably common for pros who travel internationally and I'm sure someone has figured out how to ensure that the players get back from the governments any tax as well.

I know a dozen people that moved out west from Ontario. Every one of them has said the pool scene is garbage there.

If they will let me into Canada I'm in. I'll hold my arms out to fit more people.

Congrats to all involved on putting this together. Based on who is involved I'm sure it will be a well run series. I think this will be much better than one WPA event. I hope it does well enough to see another one.

Total BS that a room putting in money for an event not want to have it at another location. Cheap bastards probably hope to outrun the nuts and break even on the deal as well.

This is whats wrong with pool. People getting a quarter million dollars for a prize fund and wanting to maximize their chance of getting a percentage of it back.
