Mercer

SVB and Darran Appleton are playing in it. SVB was at Mickey's tonight playing in a single elim 9 ball big table tourna. He was playing Max Eberle in the finals. SVB is a MONSTER...

Fu**! I always miss this tournament!

I never know when the hell it is!

The RumRunner is a total dive bar, but the field is pretty solid and the payouts could be worth the trip. Oh well...

Hi Corey,

The Mercer is always around mid-March. Hey now :) I have to disagree about your "dive bar" comment. While the RR is not the fanciest place, it is a nice little British pub type bar that is well kept, nicely decorated, great lighting, a wonderful staff, seven 7' tables and a great kitchen. They take great care of their tables and treat people like family. By the way, the tables they have usually are: 4 Diamond 7' Smart tables and 3 Valley's. For the Doc Hill and the Andy Mercer which are two weekends back to back, they remove the Valleys, add a couple more Diamonds and run the event as professional as I've ever seen in a bar atmosphere.
Last week was my first experience playing in the Doc Hill since I moved here just last August (the B player equivilent to the Andy Mercer and in it's own right a tough field). They had a ref / racker at each of the 4 tables in use and the playing area partitioned off so people could not walk through. The Hill brothers are a class act and their loyal following is well deserved.

I want to also put in a kudo for Mark Estes who does a lot for pool in Las Vegas and is the person responsible for the terrific condition of the diamonds being played on this weekend.

Watch out for the dark horse coming out of Iowa Chad Vilmont he could snap it off:thumbup:

Holly I totally agree with your assessment of the Rumrunner. It is a very nice place. Gino Hill and his fine staff always make everyone feel very welcome. This is as well run tournament as anywhere in the country. Matches are always dead on schedule, referees always alert and good food from the Badger restaurant on prem.

I have physical ailments that have kept me from playing there the last two years and I really miss not being there. I hope to be there next year. Best wishes to all this year. Say hi for me to Gino and his people. thanks

I walked in there just once (about 6 months ago). I thought it was dirty and way smokey. To each their own, but the equip looked lower end to me; however I stayed no more than 5 minutes, so it did not get the full inspection.

Dear Mr. H...I respect your thoughts about smoking as I know you are a pretty serious cyclist...and we've discussed it before. Other than that dear friend...bap on the head. Maybe you were there a long time ago and things have changed since then. Hope life is treating you well and school is still as enjoyable as ever.
