Happy Fathers Day, fellas! :smile2:

As crazy as it may be, other than maybe going down to my dungeon and hitting a few balls this morning, I don't think I'll be in pool mode at all today unless I should count the pool party and bbq I'll be attending at my oldest son's house.

It will be a great day, nevertheless.

Hope all of you dads enjoy the day and if you get to do something pool related or maybe even receive a pool related gift, bully for you.

Enjoy!

best,
brian kc

Playing in the finals today of the APA Masters City Championship.

Two teams qualify for Las Vegas, so we are already qualified. Today's match will determine how much of our expenses we get reimbursed. Will be my first APA nationals trip.

Now I just need to figure out something fun to do with the wife and kids!

I think my oldest son, (7yo) and I will play a bit today. About a month ago I realized he is finally tall enough to play in earnest on our home table. This happened, coincidently, immediately after I put my foot down about the (covered) pool table being used for laundry processing & storage  .

A couple of weeks ago I got him a height proportional cue (the 5yo too) and clearly the bug has bitten. Typically I run him through some drills and then we play a game of "clean up". He's just starting to like 8-Ball. Overall, he can't get enough. We've even started going out to pool halls in our area just for a change of scenery. His fundamentals are pretty good, certainly way better than when I was his age. I'm teaching him etiquette too. I was complimented the other night by a local pool room owner on both my son's early skill as well as his respect for others playing around him. The pool room owner is a regional legend so it really meant a lot to me.

Happy Father's Day to ALL! -Z-

Thought I might get drunk and pass out in the poolroom, I beg your pardon, sports bar and grill, parking lot. It's supposed to be a beautiful day here.

I am going to the pool hall later to meet some friends and play. Normal Sunday thing.

But in the mean time I am getting my cues out today. All of them. Just to get my hands on them. Do a general inspection. I haven't been through all the cues since we moved in March.

And I am going to re-tip one of the shafts for my old Joss. It's been a long while. The tip that's on it works great but is just worn down too much. I have a small supply of mid-1980's LePro tips that I use.

And I might work on a case I've been building off and on for the past year or so.

This is one of my cue cases:

And I just found out I have a couple of vintage cues coming. Apparently never chalked, 35 years old. But that's all I know. Don't know what they are.:D

:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

EDIT: Cancel all that. Got called away on an emergency. Oh well. Probably still play tonight anyway.

Last Sunday at my straight pool league the league operator said I need a BYE since there's an odd number of players and I haven't had it yet. I figured Father's Day was the best for the BYE so I could be home with the family. Unfortunately I'm itching to play, especially after the shellacking I took in yesterdays Predator Tour, LOL!!

Well, here I am sitting up against the wall in the parking lot of my local pool hall, I beg your pardon, sports bar and grill. My head hurts like hell but a cold front moved through the area and it's a really nice day.

Reading AZB and a bloody, does that count? And sitting on my roofdeck looking at a bit of the inner harbor

When I was a child I would take the rowboat my father made out about two miles from shore...right near the shipping lanes, if it was a calm day.
My mother would send one of the neighbors out in a power boat to get me back in.
Mom would ask me what I was doing there....how do you explain doing nothing ?....
....no thought in my mind, just the water lapping against the boat and seagulls screeing.

I think my poppa understood....God bless you, poppa

I know what you mean about wanting to be alone, pt.
I can't tell you how many times my Dad caught me in the bathroom with a magazine in my hand, but sitting there in the Optometrist's office and seeing the smile on his face I knew he understood.

Little work around the place, nice steak dinner, snooker w friends all evening..... Best Fathersday ever!
