Any Pool Room Have Domino Action Any More?

Back in the old days, 60s-70s, most of the pool rooms, in the south, had domino tables with lots of domino action. Just wondering if any rooms have any high roller domino players any more?

In the 70's they used to play a lot of moon with dominos at the pool room in Bellflower, CA. I was winning so much $$ in the $3 & $5 a point liability game on the 6 x 12 snooker table, they insisted I play some moon with them. I mooned it in the first game I ever played and caught my double in the kitty (I misread my hand). They all thought I was cheating and had marked the dominos. After we played a few times and they saw how bad I played, they knew it was an accident.

They have a big screen TV in the main room and a lot of the old timers kinda hang out... watch the game on the main table and watch the Cubs/ Sox/ Bears/ Bulls or play Dominoes until a real game springs up on the main table...

I have seen Dominos at Chris' Billiards in Chicago though its been a few years since I went there with any kind of regularity... They have a big screen TV in the main room and a lot of the old timers kinda hang out... watch the game on the main table and watch the Cubs/ Sox/ Bears/ Bulls or play Dominoes until a real game springs up on the main table...

That's exactly the way it use to be all over the south with the exception of a few places, like Jackson, MS, where they still play dominoes real high while they wait for, usually a golf game on the 5X10 snooker table. The older guys here will really bet it up, $500- $1k, a game while waiting to play $5 and $1 game of golf. Go figger. These old dudes will play anyone who walks in the door too. If you know a good domimo player, he can make a ton down this way.

They have the world championships of dominos in Andalusia Al of all places and there is occasionally some betting there on the side. Its discouraged
but I bet theres some games somewhere other than the tournament grounds.

no domino action around here..........but more money seems to change hands on the backgammon board than the pool table.

When he first came to town he told Sid Tice to steer him around, he said Sid could get half of the winnings. He also told him if they lost, Sid did not owe a quarter. How strong is that, all you can do is WIN, you can NEVER lose? Strong

Hemi, some of your guys from Mississippi might have known him, he passed away from cancer back in the late 90's. He had two son's that were real good players as well!

Yes, Sizl. His name was Morgan. He won the Andalusia tournament 13 times, including partners. He played pool too. Far from his domino speed but would bet so high playing pool that he beat many shortstops, playing even, who were suppose to give him the 7 ball. I saw Morgan $15K stuck playing a local shortstop, then throw another $15K on the table and tell the guy they were playing for that amount from there on. The shortstop had the nuts but told Morgan $15K was all he needed and quit. Yea, Morgan hit the roof.
