Anybody make it down there this weekend that could give some updates?

I just got back. I finished 17-25, and mine was the last group of matches being played tonight. Top 16 tomorrow. Conditions were difficult. The air conditioners were struggling (and failing) against the near triple digit temps. All the players were sweaty and sticky since the humidity seemed to be above 80% in there.

Shawn Putnam, Mike Davis, and Kevin West are on the winners side, Joey Ryan was burning through the losers side. Lee Holt, Shawn Toni, & Stottlemeyer were doing well, but I'm not sure if they are all on the winners side. Black-balled was having some strong matches (9-3 against BJ Ussery, for example), but I'm not sure where he stood when I left. I saw he lost a match against Stottlemeyer. Anyway, it was a very strong (if not gigantic) field. Not sure what the count was, but maybe around 50?
I'm sure tomorrow there will be good (more detailed) reports from Timberly, Ceci, and/or Andy.

After Saturday's play, the 57 player field is down to 16.

8 winners are:

Wayne Bean vs Shawn Putnam

Keith Christman vs Jamie Welch

1 loss side is:

?? Kevin Overton or Stacey Sudler vs Joey Ryan or David Hunt

Some of the most interesting news happened after the tournament when Ryan McCreesh matched up with some guy from Texas named Paul in some one pocket. The game started with Ryan giving up one ball on his break, even on Paul's. Ryan jumped out early and looked to have the NUTS, but then, this guy Paul really started playing. By the time it was over, Ryan said that he needed 9-7 from this guy if he wanted to keep playing. The guy didn't miss a bank all night against Ryan and played really tough one hole. No other action to speak of after the tournament.
