you reminded me of this...

from Wikipedia...

In the winter of 1949, B.B.King played at a dance hall in Twist, Arkansas. In order to heat the hall, a barrel half-filled with kerosene was lit, a fairly common practice at the time. During a performance, two men began to fight, knocking over the burning barrel and sending burning fuel across the floor. The hall burst into flames, which triggered an evacuation. Once outside, King realized that he had left his guitar inside the burning building. He entered the blaze to retrieve his beloved $30 guitar, a Gibson acoustic. Two people died in the fire. The next day, King learned that the two men were fighting over a woman named Lucille. King named that first guitar Lucille, as well as every one he owned since that near-fatal experience, as a reminder never again to do something as stupid as run into a burning building or fight over women.

...no, I've never named a cue.

Great Story! Never knew why BB named his guitar Lucille.

I never was tempted to name a cue, rarely ever said foul things about one. The moron behind the cue, particularly the one behind my cue sometimes, him I said some real bad things about when he went into stupid mode!

I have named my cues over the years. I never have called my cue anything i wouldn't call my mother. However, i've called the operator a few unmentionables.

I've never named any of my cues, but a friend of mine used to call my Sledgehammer "Viagra" when I broke it down to jump.

When I'm making balls and in dead stroke, her name is Sweet Baby. When I'm playing like shi#, it's You Fu#$ing Bast#$@.

yes!

Yes I have, and "her" name is Jeanette. I figured I'd name my favorite cue after my favorite female pro - Jeanette Lee. I don't understand why it's so weird to you, I think it's pretty common like naming your car.

I've only named one (the first one that I owned as a kid). I bought it well used in 1963 and it had already seen lots of serious money action by then from it's previous owners.

Back when I was a teenager and playing lots of money games, I'd imagine I was a shark picking my teeth with it while patiently waiting for my turn at the table with a $hit-eating grin.

It's 17 oz. and 55.5" long and when I play with it these days people often notice it's kinda small and light and sometimes raz me about it (e.g., "Why don't you play with an adult size cue?").

So, I named it toothpick.

I refer to my main player (my Jacoby) as SweetPea. I rarely use the name aloud but if one of my friends asked me which cue I shot with I will reply that it was "SweetPea".
