Anyone special order an LD shaft with a 1”ferrule

How’s it hit? Still LD?

Sorry about this thread. I was trying to make a poll thread and messed up. But I have been wondering about playing an LD that normally comes with a small ferrule with a longer one put on it. Don’t know if it’s possible with the pin being smaller for the small ferrule. Some of the less LD shafts come with a longer one. And I don’t really see a plastic/fibrous ferrule being much heavier than the piece of wood that it’s replacing. Plus a 1 inch ferrule looks so much better to me.

It's been done. The first Predator shafts had a longer ferrule, they were also 12 piece laminated wood as opposed to todays 8 piece.
You are correct in a short tenon under the shorter ferrule, longer ferrule, longer tenon needed. To much of a capped ferrule on to a short tenon, not good in my opinion.
When Predator went to 3/4" ferrule, the tenon under it was just over a 1/2" long.
1/4" cap on the ferrule!
Choose the right material!!

I was honestly wondering if it would throw off the LD properties much. I really like the keilwood shaft I have. But for some reason being accustomed to a longer white ferrule behind the tip it seems like my aim can get a bit wonky on precision shots with the shorter ferrule of the keilwood after playing with a standard shaft most of the time. It’s not because it’s LD either. I’m talking on shorter maybe like 2ft straight ins when the ferrule is in view and the full pocket is being used. Could be a bridge issue do to the shorter ferrule needing to be farther away too. Not sure. It’s still fun to play with though. The hit is nice and smooth.

Meucci still uses a ferrule 1 1/4" long on thier red and black dot shafts!
Best to ask who ever made your shafts what thier thoughts are.
