I didn’t get that far into the video, I quit watching when she said the purple 5 is staying 😉
Right, and she said they were unlikely to switch back "because the change was made and people accept it". Maybe "she" accepts it but not so much the people. The thing I really don't understand is how the pinkish or whatever color they call the 4 is any more prominent on camera than an orange ball. And they didnt just change colors, after changing the color of the "5" ball they felt a need to swap the numbers around on the 4 and the 5, what exactly did they think this was accomplishing?? Do the different numbers on the 4 and the 5 somehow make them more prominent on the TV screen or computer monitor??????

I got no complaint with drug testing…ultimately, it’s doing the players a favor.
…..got lots of anecdotal evidence for that.

I never minded gambling with people that were doping. While they might have the mix right for short term tournament play I never ran into somebody who didn't lose that fine line they had to be on to play great. They either got too high or too far down and one great thing about the dopers, they were straight tickets! I can't remember one ever quitting on me.

I know a few greats were known as chemical players but the people that could really manage their drugs were very few and far between, and every doper thought they could.

I don't know.... If we want to pretend pool is a sport then we should hold our "athletes" to the same scrunity others on the world stage enjoy. No one needs to agree with me on this one. I just personally have clean athlete role models, than crack addict junkies taking time outs for a fix to calm their nerves.
You really think a junkie could hang with Gorst, Shaw, etc.

sry,... that's a dumb argument. The point is I rather have clean role models to enchance the image of the game. If random or focused drug testing gets us to that end, then I have zero problem with it and if I had the talent to be in that group, I'd be volunteering for the testing. I really don't care how many hurt feelings reports are submitted.

I have this really skewed sense of basic standards that pops into my mind when someone is described as a pro(fessional). You want to be one...?..., then act like one.

I assume Matchroom appreciates the WADA side of WPA. They want to market some public heroes to a global audience. As much as that could impact a couple of their potential story lines, they’d rather be working with the stable of players they have than the kind that hang out in New Orleans. For the record, I love both cultures. But I appreciate only one of them is commercial.
Matt, why you hatin' on ole Nawlins??? Just which players are you talking about in New Orleans? That's a mighty big brush you're using.....

Ball color(s) that everyone seems to hate? It was a shortsighted mistake. 1) admit it. 2) fix it. 3) move on
Replace 'everyone' with "a small percentage of a select group that post on a internet forum out of the USA", and you'll have your answer why they won't bother.

Any rumors as to what sort of "outburst" Darren had that caused a WPA suspension?

She also addresses the 5-ball color.
The only time one actually cares about the ball colour is when they're playing with them. It changes literally zero about the game. That said as long as a quality set of balls are available in the traditional colours, I will not purchase the altered set. The romanticists really need to move on.

My thoughts on the balls/cloth are different than the other opinions and Matchroom's explanation. Personally, (and I have absolutely nothing to substantiate this theory) I think that Matchroom is simply differentiating themselves from the other failed attempts at marketing this game. They want to have veiwers tune in and instantly know it's a Matchroom production, and not the old tired and busted crap. There will be a ref and no commentators sucking on their gums.

Emily in front of the camera is also a refreshing change from the old men that typically drive this game into our homes. Heaven forbid the game has a front runner that may still be alive in another 20yrs...lol

It appears the bulk of the grumbling is coming from the NA membership here. So Matchroom has what 20-25 people annoyed enough to make a post on the forum that sways nothing...?...lol
Yes, you have absolutely nothing to substantiate your theory. Matchroom is branding themselves by changing the ball colors? Have you noticed the gigantic Matchroom banners surrounding the table?

So, your option is that what, 90% of all Matchroom viewers are pleased with this change? 99%? 51%?
I think not, your xenophobic worldview not withstanding

LOL. Not hating. I love both cultures. But Matchroom is really about that professional, commercial 9-ball image.

That’s a different player demographic from the gambling, street clothes, air barrel, sleeping on the couch at Buffalos, 1-pocket specialists that aren’t looking to lock horns with SVB, Shaw, Filler, or Gorst (unless it’s 1 pocket… and not likely even then).

Does WADA test for snappers?

If you want traditional colors, do you condone going back to green cloth? Blue cloth is ok in dim pool hall lighting, but it is overwhelming when the lights are bright.

I would like to see the change to "traditional" green.
'Overwhelming'?? Seriously?? I've played a bunch on TB with bright led lighting and have never had an issue of any kind. I've noticed LESS eyestrain and its much easier to see edges of the balls with TB as opposed to green. All our eyes are different but no one in my home place has ever complained about the blue cloth and led lighting.
