Got a quick change gearbox for the old atlas lathe. This will be a game changer for saving time on gear changes. It's a luxury most of you already had when you got your lathes, but a lot of craftsman and atlas lathes came without gearboxes. Mine came without, and boy what a pain in the butt changing gears.

You can convert these? I have a TH54 without quick change, would love to have that feature....tell me more....please

It's as simple as finding the right gearbox, purchasing it and bolting it on. No modifications necessary.

Just be careful when buying one, they made a few different versions, and they aren't cross-compatible in some scenarios. A 12" lathe gearbox won't fit a 10", and vice versa. They're expensive ($500-$900) so making sure you buy the right one is important.

Here's a video on identifying gearboxes for atlas and craftsman lathes.
