I got my first Barioni LD cue just a little under two months ago and I have to say I was very impressed with it. I was so impressed with it that I jumped when I got the chance to get a second cue from John without having to wait up to a year and a half to have one built from scratch. I have played with a custom Schon and a Predator shaft for close to twenty years and never thought anyone could pry it from my cold dead hand but after playing with my first Barioni I knew I would never go back. I really loved my Schon/Predator but it is now retired in favor of my new magic stick of which I am fortunate enough to own two. My biggest problem now is deciding which one I like playing with the best. I would like to thank you John for developing the technology to make these amazing cues. My hat is off to you sir.

Nice looking cues. Do you have to put them in the case with the joint down or will big end still go in the case?
Started to reply to your comment in a negative fashion because of it's implication but just in case your question is sincere and not a troll let me be clear ... I did not receive any remuneration for my completely unsolicited post. If I was not thoroughly impressed with my new cue(s) I would have never given up on a cue that I have played with for 20 years. Thanks for the "nice cue" comment but in all reality I think that my custom 1984 Runde Schon is a better looking cue ... it's the technological features of John's cues that impress me and the reason that I bought both cue(s).
I have a Jack Justice case and both cues fit in the case without a problem with the big end down. I have joint protectors for the cue pictured below and I cannot use them for this case. The reason is because I ordered the cue and shaft longer than normal and with the joint protectors on they are just a tad too long to fit in the case and be able to strap down the lid.
From Barioni Cues website it says "The nubbin at the end of the cue helps you hold on to the cue for those stretched out shots and also aids in a shockwave dampening system.". As I primarily shoot on bar tables I haven't found a use for the nubbin as I don't have to stretch for shots. As for the dampening I can't say anything for that either as I don't have one of his cues without the nubbin to compare it with. I do know how both of the cues play that I bought from him and I would be inclined to take his word on these features based on the playability of the cues.
Couple other guys that had "lumps" at the end of their cues are Perry Weston (rip) and Sailor Cues by Frank Stellman. Both of them are very respected cuemakers.
