Personally never been big on Organizations, and see the APA is Apparently have a Big Tournament in Lost Wages Nevada this weekend at the Rivera Hotel 7 Casino.

Was wondering as the BCA seemed to just have it BIG Vages event several months ago which group. BCA, or APA is bigger, and has a better event.

Do you belong to BCA, or APA, and if you do why and what is so good, or great about membership

To me ...

Bruce ... You forgot the VNEA (Valley league). I have played
in all 3 leagues, and for competition, handicap system, and
Nationals, i would rate them as such:

1) BCA
2) VNEA
3) APA (handicap system is lousy)

There isnt a BCA league in my town so I cant comment on it. But having played both APA and VNEA I can tell you I am MUCH happier in the VNEA. I was on a team that played in the state tournament this year and must say it was one of the most exciting tourneys I have ever played! I couldnt beilieve how many matches came down to the final game. In a few matches the winner was decided by less than 5 balls!

Forgot Nothing, as I knew Nothing before I asked this Question. ;) Only place I play is Jurassic Park with the OMF's League. I may venture out Tomarrow Night to do a 9 Ball thing 6's and under....

Between the two mentioned, BCA is a no-brainer.

There is a new league coming on-line I believe the end of this week, called iPP. This is a billiard room only league and it is focused on getting players into the billiard rooms were the pool players play. iPP believes that the pool players that play in the billiard rooms are the strongest players with the knowledge and experience to share with others.

I have agreed to sponsor this league because they are truly a league for the pool player. They support two divisions, 1. Competition: 9 ball on 9' tables in an individual not team format 2. Charter: 9 ball and 8 ball on 7', 8' and 9' tables in a 3 player team format.

Billiard rooms must have a pro shop, access to a cuesmith if one is not in the house and access to a strong instructor in order to be eligible to host teams.

There are several touring players that are affiliated with this league. The support is to create a league that gives back to billiards. Many billiards halls are closing because of no patrons. Today players have many options and unfortunately there are some parts of the country where a billiard room is not one of them. Maybe this will change.

I am not saying not to play bar pool, what I am saying is that this is a very good alternative for players who want to really advance into pool and play the best.

Sounds good, Pete. I've never played in a bar league, and I think they generally do a disservice both to revelers, whose barbox is taken from them once or twice a week, and enthusiasts who would otherwise encounter serious pool.

Maybe ...

Pete ... Maybe you better come to Kansas then if your billiard
rooms are shutting down.

We watch the wheat grow, the buffalo roam, and shoot Pool
out here, whichever one tickles your fancy .... lol

I just got back from Buffalo, NY. 1/4 of the pool rooms are no longer there.

Why try and compare them? They are each designed to attract a different group of players. The APA is designed for new and lower level players. The BCA is designed for and attracts the higher level players. And they both seem to be doing a great job.

I have never played in any league. Having said that -

I like the rules of the BCA better than APA. In apa 8 ball, slop counts!!!!! BCA has very good 8 ball rules (damn near perfect) so I would go with that one for 8 and either for 9.

Sixshooters on 35th ave and Peoria has both APA and BCA along with a couple in house, TAP, and a Honeywell league. They have league play 5 nights a week and most of them have LOTS of people playing. You should head down there a few nights and look over all the different leagues for yourself. BTW - Sixshooters is the largest pool hall in AZ. It used to be real nice now its ok. About 40 tables with room between most of them.

I have been to Six Shooters, but never stayed. As Far as all these Organizations, I think they need to Unite like the AFL & NFL did years ago. Just One Group for Professionals, and all level of Amateurs, playing all the Pool/Billiards/Snooker Games would be a good thing IMO....
