Great Joel Hercek for sale. Four cocobolo points into bem forearm. Natural, cocobolo, and mahogany veneers. Notched ivory diamonds in each point. Eight notched ivory diamonds with ivory dots seperated by four fine ivory lines in the butt sleeve. Maple slotted trim rings below the wrap and at the joint. Ivory ferrules on both shafts. I am not sure exactly what the wrap is, but my friend thought it may be kangaroo.
You don't see many Herceks for sale, and this one is rare, in the fact that Joel has made very, very few phenolic flat faced joint. Here is part of an email from Joel:
"Although it's been ten years, I do remember that cue. I've made very few flat face cues in my career and even fewer with black Phenolic joints. I'd have to say I've only made 4 or 5 with black Phenolic, so it's quite rare in that aspect.
The design is one I've done from time to time, however I'm certain that there is not another one with that wood/veneer combination and that joint to boot."
This cue has barely been played with. It was made in 2000, so it has sat in a case for most of its life. I felt one tiny ding in the forearm, and one tiny mark on the wrap. One shaft has a little bit of bluing and the other shaft looks new. I would rate this cue at 95%+.
