You can record anyone, anywhere just because you want to. If I follow you down the street and have my camera recording you I don't owe you a dime. It's called freedom of the press.

uhhhh - no you can't. This is a private business. You can't just record anyone or anything. Try doing it at a concert or a play or a movie theatre or a ton of other examples where it is not permitted and spout off your Cheerios Box gained attorney degree and see what happens.

And the real competition here is this -- Ray and his desire to continue to do PPV and Erica and her desire to own a hosting site where people can post their pool videos. She needs 'the views' to give herself credibility. Unfortunately, she is trying to accomplish this with a godaddy hosted webpage and equipment that is simply substandard.

That's not entirely true...

You can record anyone, anywhere just because you want to. If I follow you down the street and have my camera recording you I don't owe you a dime. It's called freedom of the press.

Otherwise, you wouldn't see people's images blurred out or people on radio announcing to people they call that they are being broadcast.

Nor would you see people being asked for permission to air them on television. It is not an unlimited free for all in public.

This is a terrible situation...Literally a "he said • she said" at that.

It is thanks to situations like these that we have decided to do the following event in Las Vegas with the provision that, "no cameras or still photography be allowed in this venue unless otherwise authorized by Gary Onomura (Owner, Good Timez Billiards or Daniel Busch (Owner, POV Pool Media)" I sure do hope Erica and Truck work out their situation, but it seems doubtful. I for one, am not a fan of either of them and I will not go into details. Forum rants and circular arguments are par for the course when the decision is made to post personal and professional billiards drama on AZ Billiards Forums. Well, if there's anything Truck will get from press this bad, is that everyone will know about him and Efica now. I'm sure, that between Scott Frost and Efren Reyes playing in Arizona in July, Truck will be the one who wins... Or, maybe not.

Trying to prove your point will lead you nowhere in the long run. The keyboard commandos will always prevail...and with this, I will proudly leave you with my unsolicited plug for our upcoming Pay Per View event from Las Vegas. I know, huh - not such a classy move but let's face it... it's good timing.

You scheduled that on top of the US Open 10 Ball (Bar Table) Championship PPV? The sh!t is going to hit the fan now :lmao:

Re Big Truck..

I think Efren got set up with action matches that were played on the stream and Daniel is the one who set them up. I have from first hand experience saw that players who have a good following get perks like free entry, rooms, food/drink, travel and whatnot as promoters want them to attend.

As for this whole matter I don't have many kind words for Ray as he has done me wrong in the past being an abrasive jerk to me and coming into my stream putting it down and messaging people to watch his long ago before he started doing PPVs. He had that incident with Upstate Al in the past which I don't remember all the details but something about a girl and a bathroom in his home. My friend Corner Market Bob aka CMWBSU really got taken by him with a loan of $10,000 that wasn't repaid and called a gift.

Ray started streaming with the intentions of making it his business and livelihood without question so what Erica is doing is hurting that. I don't feel sorry for him because of him being the way he was in the past to me and others especially when it was unwarranted. By treating myself and other streamers the way he did and being so disliked by this small group he has hurt his own business because many of us cross promote and support one another.

I like being apart of a group like Accu-Stats who started it all and TAR which I hope would make a comeback, Danny with POV who is a good guy, Upstate Al and all his hard work and CMBWSU and all the people who have promoted streaming out there. I have never met Ray and could care less too, he will be in my backyard for the Frost and Efren match which I doubt I will attend. Feel free to tune in to my FREE stream of the challenge match between Rodney and Scott in a couple of weeks.

Hey Lendon..Not just because you're my bud, but I have never known you to make unfair accusations on any subject!..I had no idea you had some bad dealings with Big Truck..I had not thought of him that way, and have bought several of his streams in the past. (which by the way, I thought were usually overpriced)

I have had no problem with him trying to show a profit, but if (according to you) he has done so with a lot of shady, unfair practices, it will certainly effect my future dealings with him..You and Daniel,(POV) and Al, have always been above all the petty crap, which is a rare thing in the pool racket!..

As you know, I have always tried to get you to not give away all your hard work, but you are doing it the way you want to..Good luck in the future, and you know you will always have my business, even if you eventually have to charge a fair price for it!. ;)

Oscar will play Shane the game that Shane has approached him about multiple times but then never comes thru and plays.

I'll see Shane tonight and ask him the details and hopefully we can get a game set up. I'll stake Shane in my pool room if he likes the game and tells me it's fair for like 5-10k. Obviously if you say he's been asking Oscar to play, he likes it. Don't even know what they discussed.

Some free streamers will do your event for $1500 or so and you will get way more exposure then the limited viewership of a PPV audience. I don't get how any room would pay that much for a guy to come in there and make money on a PPV. You were much too kind.

Yeah, it really does not make any sense to me on why a pool room owner would be paying the streamer and any of the streamers expenses.

It makes much more sense to have a free streamer (like Erica) to do an event (with the pool room getting much more exposure).

If you have a superior product then the FREE streams shouldn't matter all that much and I think those who pay for his streams will continue even if Erica is streaming there. Ray does it for the money first and foremost which is fine but this guy doesn't do it for the love of the game. I put in countless hours streaming for the love of the game as has Al, Daniel, Alvin and many others. I know Al and Daniel have done PPV streaming but have done much more for FREE to viewers which helps to promote the game, tournaments and rooms.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Why would Ray (Big Truck) have cared that Erica was doing a free stream, if it is known that his streams are of much higher quality? The guys that are willing to pay are still going to pay to see the much higher quality stream.

I know of almost zero pool players(not on AZ) that even know PPV pool exists, they look at you with their 1,000yard stare. Lol

Most players complain about paying for time let alone watching somebody else play.

Well, there are many people that love watching the pro players play, and are willing to pay to see certain matches (or tournaments, based on the player list), if they are unable to be there in person.

Seems pretty obvious in the video that the only time Ray touched the phone was when it was streaming the only table that he asked her not to stream. Ray even says go stream any other table but mine, buffalos has something like 30 tables? Seems pretty easy to do

I question yojr comlrehension of proximate cause.

By definition, an accident caused by the driver in front jamming on his brakes to punish the tailgater cannot be caused- by legal definition- by tailgating. One has to happen from front, another from behind.

Go try it, tell the cop 'i found he was tailgating me, so i slammed on my brakes'. If you get arrested, point him to post #103.

It is like saying you set fire to your neighbors car because he drove over your rose bush.

I was already clear that if someone intentionally tries to cause you to rear end them by jamming on their brakes then that would be one of the rare cases where they are also a proximate cause, but as I mentioned you can rarely prove it, so even then in most of those cases the driver that rear ended the other will still be found to be totally at fault (and whatever tickets and charges are issued is almost immaterial to who will be found at fault).

But even in the rare cases where you can actually prove they intentionally slammed on their brakes trying to intentionally cause you to rear end them, you (the rear ending driver) will typically still be found to be partially at fault for failing to maintain a safe following distance. No mater what he did, it doesn't change what you did or didn't do in regards to your own legal obligations. He had a legal obligation not to intentionally try to cause an accident, and you had a legal obligation to follow at a safe distance, and you both failed to meet your obligations. I can't tell if you are aware that there can be more than one, and sometimes even many, proximate causes.

If you rear end somebody, there is well over a 99% chance you are and will be found solely and completely at fault. In the rare cases where you aren't solely at fault, you will still more often than not be found to be partially at fault. It is very, very rare that a person rear ending someone else is found not to be at fault at all, and I already explained some of the types of special circumstances where it could typically happen in post #103.

I am not misunderstanding proximate cause. I have personally handled or advised on literally over a thousand rear end accident cases (probably several thousand), including cases in every single one of the 50 states.

On a side note to address another myth, police officers don't actually have very much knowledge about the intricacies of the law or in judging negligence or comparative negligence and the like--you know, basically all the things that are important in determining legal liability in an accident. What the officer's opinion is about who was at fault in an accident is very often wrong and typically carries very little if any weight in court or with an insurance company either one. What is important, and where officers are useful, is in the facts they were able to gather at the scene, whether it was statements from those involved, or from witnesses, or other physical evidence such as skid marks or field sobriety or blood alcohol tests or photos they took of the scene or whatever else. The insurance companies make their own evaluation about liability, as do the courts if it goes that far, and what the officer's opinion is about who he feels was how much at fault means very little and rightfully so. They just don't have the knowledge to make those kinds of determinations. Their gathered facts and evidence are important, but not so much their evaluation of them. I'm not trying to bust your chops on any of this, I just hate seeing misinformation spread even if it is done sincerely and with the best intentions.

This is a very good question.

The short answer is that a crappy pool stream and a quality pool stream -in Economics- are known as substitute goods. i.e. they satisfy substantially similar purposes. Therefore, if the price of one decreases then the demand for the other (the substitute) will tend to decrease.

Very simple example... I like Coke better than RC. But if they start giving RC away for free...I'm drinking RC.

It's really simple, don't step on other people's toes. Ray brings in a crew, arranges for the players to get backed, fed and housed, brings a truckload of equipment and sets up a professional stream.

If a person is wondering how the tournament is going and would like to see some matches it should be clear that if they can see some for free then that is likely to be what they do. It's the equivalent of holding the back door open for a bunch of friends and depriving the house band of gate revenue.

Are we so petty in the pool world that we have to dog our friends and colleagues out of a few bucks just for our own gratification?

Either make an agreement to stream alongside the official streamer or don't stream.

People will pay for his streams regardless if someone is streaming on a phone, he has scoreboards, multiple commentators and commentary along with better audio and video then Erica. I would have simply laughed it off but then again I don't do PPVs so maybe a couple people don't buy because she is streaming on her phone but in reality I think most people are going to pay up.

Maybe you have to draw the line somewhere before it gets out of hand and people keep stepping on your toes but if she had permission then so be it. I think her streaming matches for free on another table means little when the finals and semis will be shown on the TV table.

Erica could be doing multiple cameras, scoreboards, instant replay using Wirecast doing a solid stream for a few thousand but when you are doing a free stream its not a worth the investment unless you like the action, attention and pool in general. I do hope she keeps streaming as I hope all free streamers do because its good for the game.

I don't think PPV is a bad idea because its profitable for streamers and players but trust me sponsors/advertisers are not getting nowhere near the exposure a free stream gets. Ray might be getting 200-500 viewers for a PPV stream and if it was a free stream it would be 20,000 to 50,000 people tuning in.

I might be coming on strong about Ray and much time has past since he has been a jerk to me but I don't forget easily especially when it was done so maliciously and was totally unwarranted. I try to be decent and fair to anyone I meet along with helping out people in the industry and don't view this as a competition by any means. I believe guys like Daniel and Al and other people who stream who know me personally will tell you that if I can help out I will whether its sending sponsors a streamers way, technical advice, or promotion on my end.

I am doing fine Dick and hope you are well buddy. If you like one pocket and watching the worlds best players you should buy his streams, he is giving a good quality product which is worthwhile. I don't knock his streams even if he has knocked mine and don't wish ill will upon anyone...well okay I am lying there is a person or two I do but no one in the pool world, haha. Like I said in reality Ray makes no apologies and does things how he wants to do it and I guess its just how it is. Good luck to him.

What Ray Hansen provides is a first class stream and I hope he makes millions at it. I don't associate my business with his company any longer but I'm not knocking his product. I'm talking about his personality and how he treats people. He thinks he's a celebrity and if you invade his territory, he's this big dog or something or and thinks he can treat my employees how he wants and he is paid by me for my event, not his. Then tampers with competitors equipment is what got me. Competition and socialism is good for the sport but destruction of property is another thing.

All Erica's , Shane Winters, and all the rest of the pool player community gripes are about compensations. Obviously Shane because he's a pro bar table player and Erica has a vested interest because she is in a relationship with a professional player. But here is my take on the whole generation of revenue into the sport. I own 3 very successful businesses and wish I had more time but here is what my opinions are. Don't have Archer go to ESPN and beg for exposure time, make ESPN come to us. The professionals of the sport want to make money but don't want to step up and do what it takes. There is no actual men's pro tour which is the first step. I commend Tony Chohan for what he's doing with tournaments across the country. But what really needs to happen is an actual Tour needs to be setup across the country with a top 25-50 players list. Amateurs, League Players, Road Players and all these so called pros would have to prove themselves to be on this tour. The top elite 25-50 guys in the world would compete week in and out and BRAND pool again. Our BRAND sucks and we have a bad name in the social world. You'd have a shirt that has the tour brand on it like PGA, you'd have streamers on salaries and the PPV goes to the Tour to raise money. You have pool stick companies that want to donate free cues to auctions to get there name out. You have larger companies like Diamond and Valley trying to sponsor the event to get the name out. Then when you have something established like this, ESPN and all the others will come to you because you developed your brand name. Pool Rooms would pay to have the tour stop and be a host to there room. Pool players have no ambition today because there is nothing to play for. Everyone wants to be the best and they just call Alex and Shane the best in the world. What if we had a tour with the revenues from shirts, streaming video, equipment, pool sticks, etc all come together and make a monster? I know it is far fetched but walk around your local bar with pool tables and ask them who SVB, Alex, Earl are whoever your favorite player is if they ever heard of them. The response you gonna get from years of experience in the industry will be spider girl or black widow chick. Why because she is branded and hot and very attracting! She is a brand that's why APA is all over her and they are the top 10 companies in FORBES. Ask yourself this question, how can pool players be so broke but one of our major affiliates like APA be one of the TOP 10 countries in the world today?

If they do not like the pay, get a job.
