THAT IS A LIE!

I am sick of reading all of these posts. Mike, you knew the handle was replaced by Mike Webb. I sold you that cue for $1300! The wrap alone cost $300 from Kenny Koo.

I was taken advantage of by Tank138 last year on this cue. Tank did not list this cue for sale. I approached him. I do not blame him for his asking price because I thought I was getting a collectible cue according to HIS description. I trade a mint Ebony nosed South West with all the rings and matching SW jp's. I also included a mint PFD merry widow cue made out of Masur Birch. This was over $3500 in trade value. I also gave him $175 in cash. He is probably still laughing at my ignorance for that deal. That's OK, I have still have my dignity.

The real problem for me started a month after the deal was complete. I read a thread on AZ saying the older BB's "buzzed" in the forearm. I ran to my basement to check my newly acquired cue. IT BUZZED! I immediately contacted Tank. I wanted the cue fixed by Tony. He said he would not pay for that. Then he said he would have Mike Webb make the repair. I had no choice but to agree.

When I received the cue back from Tank about a month later it looked great. No buzz and no problems what so ever. After a few months I wanted to place a value on the cue. I heard anywhere from $2100-$2400. At this point I started to get upset. I sent the cue to Kenny Koo for a real lizard wrap to help increase the value of the cue.

At VF I heard this cue was only worth $1200-$1500. I was so disgusted, I made the best deal possible. That was with Mike Gartland. What he tries to sell this cue for is his business. My reputation WILL NOT BE QUESTIONED because of this cue. If anything I was too honest. I called TAnk a few days before VF to ask him why he sold me this lemon and his reply was "why did you draw attention by posting the cue was repaired?". I said because I am an honest person and I do NOT want to deceive anyone.

Christopher Dickey

Hey Chris,
When you made the deal with MG you also had other people next to you that witnessed the deal, so... You are not lying for sure, we all know that...
I know this story since the beginning, you are by far one of the most honest and truthful friends I have on AZ and that goes beyond cue deals, just friendship, and we all know how TANK138 got you screwed on this deal - no worries here... what goes around comes around...

While it is true that there are a few people that haven't figured out Mike Gartland yet, slowly but surely they will be awakened to the truth. I have done many, many deals with Mike in the past, but will not do another. Everything is fine as long as the money is going in his pocket and he's beating you to death over your cue, but look out when the table turns. You Mike Gartland are a liar and you just sold another little piece of your shotty reputation along with that cue.

Disgusted,

Doug

PS: You spelled tomorrow wrong!

That's OK, at least I know what it means and can recognize one when it stands in front of me. I guess you didn't catch it, but you spelled tomorrow wrong. By the way, since it's the leg you seem to stand on, there are many people on this site that have a higher education than you do, it really doesn't mean that much.

This will be my final post to this thread. My time is much better spent being billed at $300.00 to $375.00 per hour than dealing with the cue pundits.

This is the type of attitude that gives people a dislike for you. There are many people on here that make just as much money or more . I'm not one of them and I'm OK with that . Money doesn't make the man. Your probably too old to change but I thought I should at least be honest with you.

ROTFLMAO....... YOU REALLY STILL WANT US TO BELIEVE THIS LINE OF B.S.?

I was unaware of the cue's history when I traded into it at the Expo. ]

THIS IS A LIE. THERE IS NO DOUBT THAT IT IS A LIE. I ASKED CHRIS BEFORE HE DID HE DEAL WITH YOU IF YOU KNEW THE ENTIRE STORY. HE TOLD ME, THAT HE GAVE YOU THE SAME FULL BACKGROUND THAT HE GAVE TO ME. THE BACKGROUND WAS WHY YOU WERE ONLY WILLING TO GIVE HIM CRAP AS A TRADE VALUE ON HIS CUE. BUT WE ALL SEE NOW THAT EVEN THOUGH IT WAS CRAP WHEN HE OWNED IT, IT IS NOW "QUALITY" BECAUSE YOU OWN IT. YOU'RE A JOKE..... I KNEW BEFORE YOU LISTED THE CUE, THAT IT WOULD BE POSTED HERE WITHOUT THE ENTIRE STORY BEING SHARED. I EVEN TOLD CHRIS THAT AT THE EXPO, KNOWING THAT YOU WOULD HAVE NO ISSUE WITH NOT SHARING THE STORY.

When I posted it last week, it did not know that the handle section had been replaced, and certainly had no reason to suspect that it had been after playing several racks with the cue. ]

YOU CAN'T BACK PEDDLE OUT OF THIS. THERE IS NO WAY YOU DIDN'T KNOW THE STORY.

I'm not mad about not being told about the handle replacement becuse the cue looks and plays great. It is a non-issue. ]

OF COURSE YOU AREN'T MAD ABOUT IT...... IT DIDN'T HAPPEN. YOU WERE TOLD ABOUT THE REPAIR, AND THAT'S WHY YOUR TRADE VALUE ON IT WAS SO LOW.

In Tony's view, the Webb handle section replacement was "no big deal." He had some choice words for those who think otherwise. ]

TO BE HONEST, I DON'T CARE WHAT TONY THINKS IN THIS SITUATION. HE ISN'T THE ONE THAT IS NOT BEING TOLD THE TRUTH BY A CUE DEALER. TONY HAS WAY MORE KNOWLEDGE ABOUT CUE BUILDING, THAN I EVER WANT TO HAVE, BUT THIS SITUATION ISN'T ABOUT CUE BUILDING, OR THE QUALITY OF MIKES REPAIR. THE ISSUE HERE IS YOU NOT DISCLOSING FULL INFORMATION TO POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS, AND THAN TRYING TO BACK YOUR WAY OUT OF IT.

End of story. Again, who ever winds up with this cue will love it, or they can return it for a full refund. It does not get any better than that.

IT'S NOT THE END OF THE STORY...... I'M SURE YOU'LL BE BACK.

Thank you for the truth, Sir. Your dignity and honor are priceless, as some obviously do not yet know.

Truth: On Tony's website, he says that just refinishing one of his cues changes the way it plays. This cue was refinished, rewrapped, and repaired. The repair, a complete handle replacement, totally changed the construction that Black Boar is famous for, regardless of the current "hit", which I'm sure is "solid". It isn't a Black Boar anymore even if it plays "good". I can't imagine Tony saying this cue is fine if he knows everything involved in it. Yet this cue is listed at $2800 in "near mint to mint" condition. Somebody stated that this cue is like a car that was in a serious wreck and rebuilt....well, this cue should have a "salvage title" and full disclosure should always be made on it. "Idiot, moron cue pundits"? These aren't Tony's words, he's way too classy for that. So, it was sold for a $1,000 profit. Congratulations. I wonder if the buyer knows what he got....I doubt it. I realize it means nothing to you, but I, for one, will never even consider doing business with you on any level whatsoever. In my opinion, you should be banned permanently from this forum.

Similar to the good action/bad action list should we make a sticky of the good and bad seller/buyer list with links to these threads by their names? It might be more informative than the buyer/seller transaction report.

You all know more about this particular cue than I do and I'll try to say nothing about it. However, I am confused and have been confused in the past, about the use of "mint" or "near mint" to refer to a cue that has been refinished, or that matter, played, not to mention had the work that this cue apparently has had (whoops that does mention this cue).

I generally deal in collectibles of other types and I don't think I've ever used the term "mint" as a description, not even one time. I don't sell coins but isn't mint a grading used by coin people to describe an item that was made, and then immediately sealed and is now in the exact same condition as it was on the day it was made?
How can a cue that has hit one ball ever again be mint? Isn't that bell rung the minute an item is used in any way (and like all bells, now can't be unrung)? And again, to refer to a refinished item as mint, regardless of who did the refinish, seems a mockery the term, pr maybe I just don't understand what mint means.

Perhaps what we need her at AZ is a grading system. For me, I sell on the internet, sight unseen to my buyers, I just call things excellent (I don't buy them unless they fit that description) and if my buyer doesn't agree with my description (all terms like this being subjective after all) I just take the item in return and give them their money back. I think coin dealers developed a rating system to take the subjectivity out of it and maybe it works or maybe they are forever discussing what "very fine" means, but it does seem that there can be no mistaking what mint means. Perhaps the real question in this case is just how near mint this near mint stick is/was.

To me MINT would mean just like new . NO dents, no scratches, no roll in the cue or the shafts, Meaty tips , No blueing what so ever .

IMO a refinished cue could be mint but the seller should disclose the fact that the cue has been refinished and by whom.
