Called Bob today about everybody talking so much lately about the 3/8x10 Flat Face Ivory joint and having a Frey sneaky refinished. First I'm not going to tell what he quoted me for the refinish because I don't know if he gave me such a good deal because I have dealt with him before or he was just in a really good place today, but put it this way, as soon as he quoted me I said the cue was on the way. Also as far as the ivory joint, I asked him what he thought and he said "I can't tell you what is better, I don't even play pool". To my shock and awe, Bob isn't a pool player, Timmy talked him into building cues. I'll tell you what for not being a pool player he builds one hell of a cue. He had me in stitches for about 20 minutes. What a guy, everyone needs a Frey Sneaky or anything he builds. Just my opinion but I know a lot of guys here on AZ agree.

Pookster, or anyone who personally knows Bob please give him my condolences. I lost a brother nearly 11 years ago and life has never been the same. I know from speaking to Bob he is a big family man and cannot imagine his pain at this time.

I will and believe it or not that the love he has for his grandson is a lot more than some parents have for their own kid.

I've said it many times here. I truly believe Bob is one of the most underrated cue makers ever. Also one of the most fundamentally decent human beings I've ever known. I'm proud to call him a friend.

I'm not a religious person and I don't know if Bob is either, but I know he is all about family, and I know a lot of AZ members are religious. Please put Bob in your prayers. I will have him in my thoughts. I hope you all understand, I'm not trying to upset anyone, we all have different beliefs.

Bob is all that this thread has said and more.
Bob is known for his SP's, but is a true custom cue maker.
He can build anything, esp if you know what you want.
He has built many cues for me based on my 73' Joss that Timmy & Danny
built for me in 73'.
Bob Frey: not just SP's

All ebony & ivory
57 1/2 inch cue
18.65 oz
adjustable weight system drilled into middle of handle

^^^^^^ This, while Bob is famous to many for his sneaky Petes, his customs are the truth. While I've owned more than a few Frey's I've never had one of his sneaky Petes. His stainless 5/16x14 piloted and ivory piloted and big pin flat face ivory joints hit like nothing else I've ever played. He is a true artisan.
