I love this thread! It reminds me of the underground poker scene where everyone who ran a game thought that the players were their property and god forbid if someone started a new game and the players checked it out. Fact of the matter is the players are gonna go where they wanna go. If someone wants them to come to their event then they better entice them with a better deal than their competitor. Otherwise you just have to see what happens. The question I have to promoters is why do they worry if these guys show up anyway? If they have full fields at their events what do they care?

@Eric don't eat the szamboti, give it to me if the game makes it to the sports book :) I wonder if i can get the Liverpool badge lasered into my new szamboti like i have on my Tiger cue, or will it damage the value ;)

110 million people in China watched Ding Junhui play in a final. This is where the market for bonus ball is, and should be completely aimed at this market. China has over 200 million recreational players.

The game succeeds here, it is good for everyone in pool. Having the game on TV in China is the key to success, ppv is just a minute % of the pie.

So a pool league aimed at the Chinese market so people can gamble on it.

If this is indeed the model I see why it has been kept quiet.

Lee is merely pointing out the size of the overseas market that so many people fail to consider.

China is indeed in the equation, but the league was not created specifically for it. That would make little to no sense. After all, if the league was aimed at China, don't you think we'd have some Chinese players in the roster, or have named the teams after Chinese cities?

You are right - they have been trying to get the NFL into Europe. I saw a whole bunch of Rugby players get drafted in the NFL draft last weekend and couldn't figure out why until now.

And just think, in 20 years we will be laughing about how nobody took bonus ball serious as they're having their bonusball draft, taking kids straight out of high school.

JCIN he is right, the snooker i'm watching with Ding still in it and what Barry Hearn is doing is just that-taking it to China. Its not that quiet here in Europe, why it is in America is anyones guess. Probably because they aint looking at the big picture like Barry and of course dont have the cash Barry does to expand. KT was taing the IPT to China that was the plan day one, Macau won $37,000,000,000 last year, Vegas(where we invented "Vegas Style" gaming-what they sell in Macau) did $6,000,000,000. they did 6X more biz in 21? joints than all of LAs Vegas on and off strip combined. So KT was on the right track. Barry Hearn has the online gaming companies behind him its Betfair this year, KT lost his when congress enacted the UIGEA and shut down online gaming, American promoters dont have the big $$$ sponsors behind them. KT did and lost his. Someday Asia will possibly be the salvation of American pool. could happen

and thanks again for the kindness the other night, kelly is ok, a stock clerk guy had 5 or 6 heavy plastic bottle crates stacked up, they landed on Kelly, OUCH!! I was rattled man she is the best and I was worried about her, couldnt ZZZ, you saved me!!!

no i made about 100,000,000 there and lost 80 something % of it when the realestate market crashed and moved out, havent looked back.I hate Vegas, never did like it, but I made it work for me and I used it for what it was good for. I got a PHD in Vegas culture, gambling, the good old days of Vegas , a R/E Brokers license (now expired). I learned everything i could about it, Had monster inside juice with the City govt paid bribe $$$ oh yeah i'll talk now its been long enough ago that its ok, wont name names. I left unscathed except the $80+ million that evaporated -casino's didnt get a dollar of my $$$, thats for suckers.

Yeah i'm proud of what I did, I did the shit most people see in movies, I lived it, while the rest trade hours for dollars. I didnt bang the whores myself, dont like them, dont do dope, never tried it, dont hardly drink, either. I just used a city for what it offered when it offered it to my advantage, thats Hustlin real Hustlin, big $$$, movie type shit. andI lived it for 20 years, and now i'm real real comfortable. Went to jail once for 3 hours on a computer bug, thats the only beef I caught, didnt lose my freedom or asset seizure to the govt or anyone else. Why? cause I played by the rules. Paid all my taxes didnt cheat the IRS, or any henkey jive biz like that. Suckers cheatthe IRS ask Westly Snipes how that worked out for him. LOL

Vegas is a disease, its a infection, and there was a time it was the best place there was to make $$, problem now is its lost its edge, there is gaming everywhere, so that diluted its edge. So I left. I straight pimped it out, WITHOUT falling for it and the tragedy it creates, i watched more people lose their marriages, homes, life savings, sanity there than I care to think about, all behind those pretty flashy lights. See I'm not the sucker, I'm the guy that played the suckers.

pimps up hoes down,

and no I didnt pimp girls, too much drama for me, LOL

later

PS: Wayne Newton is a very very nice man, good guy.

I have no doubt China could be a lucrative market. My doubt is that a company who can't build out a 12,000 sq ft building in one year can tap into it.

Glad you enjoyed the match and tell Kelly I said hi and I hope she feels better.

she says hello, and hopes your well,

I dont know if any America pool/billiard entity can crack into the asian market, I think they(asia) are going to be the big dogs and might tap into us-Asia might be the salvation of American pool. I wish everyone in the pool biz the best, its too tough of a biz for me right now. I thought about it several times, but man the complexities, low revenue etc. Are very difficult. Hats off to Diamond for being able to manufacture tables in America.

Why didn't bonus ball just rent some table time from a local pool hall to get the league going? Is it really that critical that it is in a customized studio?

Could have started on time, and teased everyone with the details of the new studio during the first part of the season.

Don't know why China would be the market for this, aside from it's size. Japan is the country that loves new weird stuff, China is very traditional, doubt they'd go for a new game where they have no idea what the rules are.

Sorry if this has been asked before...

Were any women players invited to be on the teams?

If not, are there any plans to?

If not, why not? (Is BB meant to be a "men's league" only? )

Not asking because of a grudge, just asking.
