I’m lucky enough to be building a home this summer and will finally have a place for a pool table. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with the Brunswick Medalist? How does it stacks up against other tables in its range. Thanks for the help.

I've found a one man outfit that I can get a nine footer for 4k.

Wow..........How much more is it for the GOLD CROWN 4. The Medalist is just a cheaper version of the GC. For 4k you could look around for a used Gold Crown if you are set on Bruswick.......A new Diamond Pro is close to 4k.........in a Oak.

The Gold Crown 4 is $5,150. How do you like the Diamond Pro? I'll have to check if anyone around here sells them.

We sell them..........I like the way the Diamonds play and look, but they have alot of extra work in setup and recover. And I like the GC 4s.......they made some nice improvements since the 3's. If I had to pick between the 2 I would say GC4..........but the Diamonds play alittle better and I think look nicer. Just more work when we set them up and alot more work when we recover them. But for the price.........the Diamond is almost 1k cheaper......it's a toss up!!!! PS on the Diamond website you can check for Dealers in your area I believe by emailing them and telling them where you are .........http://www.diamondbilliard.com/................... Their website doesn't do their tables justice for some reason, but if you have ever seen one.....you know what they look like. If I can every get around to it, I am gonna go down to the pool room Hidden Pockets close to here so I can take a pidture of the one we sold them. It is a dark Cherry stain with the Diamondwood rails, beautiful table! He got the light to match and it seems like it was close to what the GC4s he has cost!

4k for a Medalist?
I concur with PM. I'd find me a GC I or II for around 2k.
Get the cushions replaceed with Artemis.
Or I'd find a used Kim Steel or new Diamond Pro table around.

Kim Steal's are nice to......haven't seen many but have heard good things!...............and if your looking for a GC1 we have 8 of those....lol. I plan on fixxing them up one day, but haven't got around to it STILL! lol

Dave: I have a b.m. and could not be happier with anything else. but your connection is asking to much for the table! What part of the world do you live? You need to shop around for better price, but the b.m. is a very good table , that is 50 yrs experiance talking . good luck OLD MAN STICK

pooltablemech: I've emailed Diamond to see where the closest dealer is and I'll have to keep an eye out for a used GC. Keeping all my options open at this time. Thanks for the help.

Stick: I'm up in the Northeast in Vermont, that price for the b.m. is by far the best I've found so far. There's not a lot of dealers in the area, trying to learn all I can before I decide on a table. Thanks for your experience on the b.m.

Yeah dude good luck on the table search.......I agree about the price on the Medalist. It is kinda high but I didn't want to say that. You should be able to find a better deal.....just keep looking before you spend that much money on a table. Because for around 4k you can get a very nice table........Just spend that 4k on playability not bells and whistles......lol. Good Luck.

Dave, may I ask where you found a "NEW?" GC-4 for $5,150? Thanks.

I just don't want to think I got screwed 3 years ago when I bought a new GC-4 piano finish "and that may be the difference" for basically the same price. I assumed they had gone up more than that. The piano finish retails for $1,000 more now. And Chuck, you need to stop by Biloxi and pick up the Painter and come to the tournament in Jackson next weekend 7-11 to 7-13. You guys could stay at my house. I can give you his phone #.

The GC4s are considerably higher than a Diamond Pro with a few extras. I find that odd, that you can get a Diamond Pro and a Diamond Light less than the price of a GC4.

PoolTableMech: Is that for a new 9 footer? I'm not moving into the new house for a month or so, so I still have time to shop around. Thanks for the offer.

Yeah 9' Diamond Pro. That Brand New! You can get a few options for a little extra, Just let me know if you decide.

Dave,

I also live in Vermont in the Burlington area... whereabouts do you live?

Just who is the one man outfit you found? I would be happy to help you if I can. I think $4,000 up here for a Brunswick Medalist is ok but is certainly not doing you any favors. Also, if you can get a new Gold Crown 4 for $5100 I would snap it up in a second... I have seen them retailed recently in Vermont well over $10k which I also think is ridiculous.

There are plenty of quality used tables around that you can get for less than $4,000... you are welcome to email me at jkurjan@aol.com or call me directly at (802) 660-4060. The phone number is my companies direct line... just ask for me (not a problem since I own the company!)

Good luck,

Jonathan
