Hello all of AZ Billiards,

This is my first post on this forum, I have been reading threads and posts for years on this website, but never posted for numerous reasons. I always enjoy what others have to say and patronize listening to comments excluding all the bickering that goes back & forth, nonetheless, I still read on.

The following statements I am going to make may not make much difference to many here, but I attempted to inform the general public, to say the very least. For me, it make no difference, this is my first post and probably will be my last. I have nothing to lose, just truth to set free, and a warning for others in the future.

Recently, I was selling a item on eBay, I have a rating score of 158, with 100% positive feedback, accordingly. I receive an email from a very well known-reputable user-dealer here saying that my item is not worth anything and makes a few statements about it here and next thing I know all of my ebayers are asking me to retract there bids. I ended up selling the cue anyways outside of ebay. The same forum member attempts to reach the buyer and tell him to get his money back, that the cue is worth nothing, etc.

Lastly, I receive an email from the same person, who degraded my cue on AZ, which effected eBay, and had the audacity to contact the buyer through numerous connections and tell him to not purchase the cue.....its a fake....it is old taiwanese, etc. Now this is where it gets even worse, adding insult to injury, the azer emails me and tells me to refund the guy his money, that he can paypal me $x000.00 dollars.

I don't know if that's right, but to me, this is called low-down dirty business, I could paypal the original buyer his money back and sell the cue for $1000.00 more, but I won't because I already sold the cue and my word is my word.

In addition, I am selling a Jack Justis case on eBay currently and another member of this forum contacts me to tell me the case is not worth anything because its resale value is close to nothing, offers me $300.00 for it because thats probably more than its going to sell for, meanwhile this is a case that was signed DEC 1, 2007, only a few weeks old, same concept, later on I would probably see my case here on AZ for like $550.00.

As I mentioned earlier, I am a unknown here, I will most likely get bashed, others will most likely speak against me deterring the truth and the majority will believe. I have no comments on Itrader but have sold numerous cues over eBay, most high end, and my feedback remains 100%. All I have to say is things aren't always as apparent as they seem. Thanks to all who had a few minutes to read this post, take care.

SOund like legitimate complaints to me. As many will say, there is more than just your side to the story though.

I believe flea-bay is a fair determinant of true market value.

I thought it was no longer possible for bidders to view contact info for other bidders tho...

sounds like a trader

Reading the original post it sounds like a long term dealer is the "bad guy". It is a pretty small circle of cue traders and everybody tends to know everybody after awhile. No idea if the original post is accurate or not but it is quite plausible on the face of it. Of course I don't trade and don't know who he is alleging did this.

I would say if you have IRON CLAD proof of who it was to post the name. If it was just some dude on a phone or with a non specific email address it could be anyone saying they are anybody.

There is too much of this crap going on here lately IMO and if some public attention will help to stop it I say go ahead but ONLY if it is 100% verifiable information. You are new here so right or wrong the burden of proof is higher for you, so if you decide to post any names I urge you to have your ducks in a row and be able to provide proof of what you say and be prepared to defend it if/when you are challenged.

If you want to throw out a name and then leave please dont (which I dont think you want to do because you could have done it already).

Welcome to AZ it is an amazing, crazy, wonderful, frustrating, fantastic place. :D

That was exactly what needed to be said here. You nailed it right on the head JCIN!

Damien,

What was the auction number?

There have literally been hundred's of fakes, frauds, etc. we've all worked hard to share information about. I think we've been pretty successful about warning e-bay and others about a lot of rip-off's. We've shut down hundreds of auctions, even recovered cues and money for people.

Occasionally, our members might get it wrong. I would hate to see someone take advantage of this situation in order to make a profit. It's best to just come out and tell the story so we all learn from our mistakes. I honestly don't think any of the regulars here would do this intentionally.

Damien,

I posted an opinion on this site stating that, IMO, the cue your offering is not a TAD for the following reasons:

1) Design
2) The receipt you posted on the EBAY add is for a MAPLE TAD
3) The link for the $3900 cue in the EBAY add is a TAD
4) A TAD embellished to the level of subject cue would have been offered by BEST BILLIARDS for a minimum of $2500 in 94

This is the first time I've communicated with you.

Ask the "owner " if the butt sleeve and cap have been replaced.

Respectfully, Adam

I think it was a series of legit mistakes. If it is a TAD, it's a very unusual variation of their Hoppe-style. The only thing that really looks like a Tad to me on this cue is the veneers.

The cue should have been sent to TAD's office in Stanton, Ca (near Disneyland) for a letter. Tad charges between $75 to $100 for a letter and pics. I've been down there having them ID cues for me and they are very helpful.

KidCuban - there are too many look alikes, too many copies, etc. If the dealer offered you more for the cue, it was because he found, to his surprise, it really was a Tad and it was worth a lot more than what you sold it for.

The point of my post is not to point fingers, nor to mention anyones names here, but to simply let the public know that people are willing to go to extremes to make a small profit. The person that I was talking about simply called me and told me the cue was not a tad it was worth much less, offered me some ridiculous price and then later on called me and offered much much more, all the time knowing the truth and in addition, going out of the way to contact Ted Harris to tell him to tell the buyer to get his money back and not purchase the cue. This person after finding out the buyer paid and is happy etc, call me to offer me more than what I sold the cue for and to tell me to return the funds of the buyer.

The point is not whether the cue is or isn't but the manner in which it happened, and the extremes of bashing a cue, making several phone calls, so all the time, the same person who offered me close to nothing and told me to end my auction offered me thousands in the end. All the time knowing the true value of the cue.

This post was only meant to inform and let others know the nature of what can happen.

As far as who? It definitely was a well known AZmember / dealer individual, and NO I'm not stating who it was. Just to INFORM those here about the business practices of some of the hierarchy here and to be careful.
THAT IS IT.

The point is, the receipt you posted is wrong, the cue doesn't look like aTad, what did you expect to happen?

you stated that you have been reading posts here for years so you know the level of knowledge on this forum. my advice to you would have been to take advantage of that knowledge. if many members, including myself, said it was not a tad that should have been a good indication to investigate further. you have knocked some az members but what about the buyer who took advantage of you? i guarantee he knew it wasn't a tad when he bought it or should i say "robbed" you. and you mention ted harris had this cue in his hands, i bet he knew it wasn't a tad as well.

guy

ugh........................

wow - I just looked at the auction for the first time and cannot believe that would be the Tad as mentioned on the receipt...

Chris

Even if the receipt is wrong and the cue was suspect the said actions of the dealer is still low down and dirty. You said the dealer might have realised the real value of the cue thats why he offered more. How do you know what was on his mind? Is it not possible that the dealer knew all along that it was a real Tad? Regardless, the cue was already sold and he should have left it at that. Basically the dealer asked the seller to screw the buyer and sell to him instead for more profit.
