You're kinda like Ned Morris. He does not use CNC. He does have a pantograph that he made. I have no cues made by a computer.

I had a Meucci in the mid-1990s and liked it. I once lent it to a friend and he ran 117 with it against me.
Never owned a custom, but O have played with some.

I have an Ernie Martinez birdseye no points that plays really well. I would think that would be in your budget but not sure. Mine is not for sale.

Most of the 'makers for the masses' have Basic cues, Sneaky Petes and such.
I can appreciate your desire for lack of Flash. Draws unnecessary attention
which can lead to it's taking a walk when you're not looking. I'd do a search
of their sites to see what the going prices are, Don't overlook Smelkie and
the folks at Mueller's.

Very old Meucci’s are pretty good cues. They went south very fast. I have 1 or 2 that are early 80’s. I think just one-actually.
I bought one brand new in '85 ish and it was a POS.
Ferule cracked and it warped in 6 months.
That was my first and last Meucci.
Yes they weren’t so good then. I seen some where the points were ¼” different in length. Rings coming unglued. Cracks in the finish over the points from wet wood moving and god knows what else/ the cues prior to those were good. I’ve seen them and played with them. But yes mid 80’s possibly the worst production cues ever
I'd throw Guido Orlandi's name in the mix. I have a very plain cue I bought from him 25+ years ago that I will not part with. To date I've not hit with anything that I like better. I actually sent the cue back to him a few years ago to restore to mint condition. Super nice guy and his cues, while not fancy, play as good as anything I've ever held.

Guy is a rockstar... he went above and beyond with my cue refinish. Even threw an ivory ferrule on it. I REALLY want to like my gorgeous ~$2000 Omen (Ebony nose, Amboyna burl points, SW style) better than that old cue I bought off him at a tournament in NY... it's tough though, even with the Cynergy on the Omen I just love the way that Guido cue plays. Put it this way... the Omen I'd sell, the Guido will be buried with me.
