Compound Taper on the Butt

Which cue maker's cue has compound taper on the butt, where the handle area is gradually thickening and start thinning again on the buttsleeve.

SouthWest's butt is like that.

The cue Eddie Bishop sent my son has a taper where it goes inward in the handle area, I guess you could think of it as a very slight hourglass taper if that is what you are talking about. It's fatter to the end of the butt, goes narrower to the handle, then slowly grows again past the hande. Really nice to grip that way and the ballance ends up great with the weight.

I know Eddie pops on the forums every so often maybe he will add some details

Yes, it's kind of like that, except the end of buttsleeve is thinner than the thick handle area.

I generally make mine straight, but I prefer the handle to be a little thinner than normal. As far as others doing just the butt sleeve, I would guess they did it so that the butt would still end up at 1.25 so that it would fit into most cases easily. I bet if you mic'd it the sleeve was just a straight or close to straight cut to match the end of the handle. The difference is less than 15 thousands difference from normal which ends up being 7 1/2 thousands per side. Honestly just done by hand in the sand stage. Hopes this helps.
