Great newspaper page!

That Shaw fella sure can shoot the eyes right of them balls.

Congratulations to Jayson.

Jayson is playing some unbelievable Pool, and is on a confidence level that is awesome to see, especially with his Firepower. Lefties always enjoy seeing another Lefty excel, and it's a Joy to see him catch a Gear! I still feel that Ko Pin Yi was CHEATED,even though you can't take anything from Jayson's performance down the stretch! Carlos Biado was the Victim of a bad call, that could have affected the outcome of his Match. I just like to see a completely clean Match, although things happen and mistakes are sometimes made. I hate to see Great Players unfairly eliminated. Hats off to Jayson,he shot so well, but Ko has to feel like Shit. Ko showed a LOT OF CLASS,in the way he handle the situation.

Say what you want, but the final 4 all had Fargo rates at 791 and up. All within the top 25, which is only about 30-40 points.

Obviously it’s not perfect, but it’s not too far off either.

Fair enough. What I'm really curious to see I'd the full tournie results in regards to Fargo to win / loss %. This was discussed prior to open and on the action side too. No matter how it falls I'm really curiois. Hopefully Mike Paige or At Large will chi, email in as they're good at that sheet . I will assume if in favor of Fargo It will be Mike, and either way Atlarge.

As in what? A list of how each match matched up Fargo wise and how close the ratings predicted the outcomes? That would be very interesting to see. Since Fargo basically equates so many points to a game on the wire(I think anyway). I’d like to see how well it predicted match ups.

Obviously there’s a good deal of variance when looking at a single match, but if it predicted the matchups fairly close a majority of the time, I’d be impressed.

I think this event wound up with about 274 matches. I'll leave it to Mike if he wants to go through all of those.

I watched the 39 matches streamed by Accu-Stats. Using the Fargo Ratings posted by Mike (http://forums.azbilliards.com/showpost.php?p=5999268&postcount=8) the day before the event started, it looks to me like the Fargo favorites won 25 of those matches and lost 14, for a winning percentage of 64%.

By "Fargo favorite," I mean the player with the higher Fargo Rating on that pre-tourney list.

That’s pretty good considering a lot of those matches players were probably rated close enough, they weren’t huge favorites to win.

The only thing that would look bad is if players with much lower ratings were consistently beating the higher rated players.

It really is the Year of the Beast! Jayson Shaw, in complete beast mode, is the new 2017 U.S. Open 9-Ball Champion in a field that some say is the toughest Open field ever.

Bravo to Jayson, a very deserving player! His family must be so proud. He's a champion for sure in more ways than one, especially with that daughter who looks just like him!

Thank you At Large. I'm gonna try to digest that before I comment. I WOUND REALLY like to see how the whole field did. Only one tournie of course but it would either make it proof positive ( for one tourney anyway ) or........

Just learned the news!
I'm F%$KING ecstatic that JAYSON has won this title. Long in the making and COULD NOT have happened to a nicer guy!
One serious, fearless and ferocious competitor!
MOSCONI MVP award this year too SIR

Just so happy for him. So much pressure on him and he absolutely torched the best field I've ever seen.
Forget the Ko blemish (wish was frankly disgraceful) - Jayson still had to go out and win.
And he did.
