Hats off to Charlie Bryant for coming out of the losers bracket to win the 10 ball tournament. He is a good guy and a good sport. For all you guys who associate wearing a glove with being a pussy, look at Hilbilly's picture.

I just got off the phone Charlie and he is really pumped.
He has been working oon a new ryhthm lately and really feels good about how he is playing.

He said he is going to win the US Open. I hope he does.

If he plays like he did last night, he is a lock.

Some just play slower than others. Why, I've never figured out. Just the way it is.

they need to get off this 10ball kick. most times the balls stay bunched up after the break forcing the players to shoot alot of safties. that slows the pace down.they need to go back to playing 9ball its alot better game to watch.the speed and tempo of the game is much better.

Maybe, maybe not. I don't see a huge difference other than the break not being as much a factor.

In almost every tournament there are matches that just seem to take eternity. When you have two players like Johnny and Hillbilly playing each other and each is so methodical, well, they seem to feed off each other and things move at a snails pace.

IMO, it's just part of the game.

You are right Lewis, its all part of the game. Your home town guy, Frank Rodriguez,(RIP) would have made Hillbilly look like a bolt of lightning.
I know where he got his nickname from, but it could have been from the fact that he drove his opponents "Bananas" with his slow play. Having played many sessions with Rod made me almost immune to the slow play I encountered later on.
Slow play is a bit of a turn off for some spectators, but not everyone plays the same speed. Lou Butera versus Archer = normal speed match.

I had to laugh. Banana's did play slow and as Freddy once said, he shot every shot like it would be the last one he ever took. He was a character though.
