They must not be using the proper diffusers. Parabolic deffusers are the way to go!
So as a fellow geezer will the balls be a little clearer on the long shots?

I pulled the 6, 8 ft. fluorescents and the ballasts out of my 9 ft diamond light and put 6 led bulbs in, fixtures wire straight into the 120 circuit without ballasts. The original diffusors with the squares created a very visible grid on the cloth that was terrible, so i pulled those and installed clear foggy finish plastic sheet diffusors from Lowes. They had them already precut the correct size, 2 ft. x 4 ft. The light is very bright, but no glare and no eye strain. Whatever you can see, you'll probably see better.
Well, you don't need ballasts with LED, so take the ballasts out and wire the fixtures straight in. Then just replace the bulbs with LED instead of fluorescents. My Diamond Pro 9' takes 6 8 ft bulbs, and I know they are not all the same. It's a pretty simple job.
the cool part about parabolic deffusers are this: from the sides you do not see the brightness, but under you do! We are working them into our new LED lighting, Michael from Littman and I talked a couple of weeks ago and he suggested them! We had already seen them, nice to get confirmation from someone in the lighting business to confirm we are headed in the right direction. We are using a standard grid for now! Upgrading soon as its totally done!
