Darren Appleton - Rodney Morris, race to 100 for $ 20,000 a man, on TAR

Roy, It seems you are very quick to count Dennis out and push the match with Rodney. I hope you don't think it will be a easier match for Darren to play Rodney. Either way he is going to be in the tough game.
You wouldn't take a bet from me on Dennis maybe you will give me a bet on Rodney. Let me know, by the way DH and DA played at VF and Dennis made me a little $$ with that win.

I honestly thought that the backer-issue never would be solved, that's why I wanted to get a line on the next match-up.

I know that neither of the matches will be easy ones for Darren. If I did I would have offered weight, which I am certainly not doing.

I already have bet enough on the Hatch-match. If I was playing myself it would certainly make me play out of my comfort-zone :D

PM me when Rodney-Darren will play, and you might have a bet.

Btw: Nice that Dennis made you some $$. I haven't lost on betting on Dennis' matches yet, either, if you know what I mean :)

No Bet!

OK guys, all this talk of betting has gotten me all fired up to bet something. I'll take JAM even up against any of the guys mentioned in this thread as playing for big money and that includes Daz. I'll even bet her against the field! Any takers?

by the way, the contest is typing on a qwerty keyboard. She is one of the best! :grin-square: :grin-square: :grin-square:

I think she's stone cold stealin' in that match-up Hu! I've seen some transcriptionists that couldn't keep up with that postin' machine!

Obviously I like Darren, because he keeps putting money in my pocket, but I do believe that Rodney is better than Dennis, so it's a tough call to make...

People said Dennis Hatch was/is favourite over Darren, and then they should feel the same about Rodney too, imo

You should feel that way if you are trying to get a bet down on DA.

haha

I am serious. I had never heard of Dennis Hatch before this match-up, and now Darren is gonna play a US Open Champion, a seasoned Mosconi-cup player and the guy who finished 2nd in the World biggest and most impressive 8-ball field ever put together.

It's a tough call

The US Open is the best win Rodney has had and that was what, 13 years ago. Playing scotch doubles or short races in the Mosconi Cup is no where close to a race to 100. I am not for sure about this but read that the IPT 8 ball was a loser breaks and how long were the races there.

DA won the 10 ball at the Reno open and finished 1st in the worlds biggest 10 ball tournament ever, which he is the current champion and which happens to be the game they will be playing.

IPT was winner breaks, all matches race to 8.

200 players in groups of 6, round robin, 5 matches each day, for several days.

Rodney Morris was/is ranked #3 on the IPT. His stats:

127 break & runs, a winning % of 56,12. Total matches won 30.

Darren ranked # 13, 90 break & runs, a winning % of 55,11. Total matches won 26.

Players who made it to the final day on the IPT was the best players in the world during that time, because of the grueling format and the equipment. No doubt about that.

All windows are open. I will bet 10 dimes with anyone who is a member of this forum in good standing. All takers must post 10 dimes ahead of time in escrow with Hu. I'll play against either one of them, using my trusty ol' QWERTY.

Like I said, I wasnt sure about their format because it seemed like all people ever talked about was how much of a gaff the IPT was and how no one was getting paid. So there is 1% difference in their winning and Rodney won 4 more matches, that is not very big.

but i have beat rodney before twice we played in tournaments
but it will certainly not be on my mind simply because i played bad in that tournament plus tournaments short race..neither of us played good~!

race to 100 there can be no excuses if u lose....esp for 20 big uns!
Straight from the horses mouth.

And your point?

He says he has played him twice and won one lost one.

I said I do feel that Rodney is a better player then Dennis, and that this will be a tough match for Darren, didn't I?

You are right, you did say that. It just seems like who ever DA is going to play he has the worst of it. Someone basically already said this though. I agree with you it will be a tough but great match for both individuals and the sweaters on the side.

I can do about 140wpm, what kind of spot can I get from you JAM:):)

I have tested at over 150wpm on a qwerty keyboard (5 minute test). But it's one of those "So what?" kind of skills. Ultimately, even if someone were the fastest typist in the world, there is very limited benefit to having the skill (increased productivity).

By the way, really tough to call this one. It's hard to argue with Darren's recent success. I'm a huge Morris fan. But if I'm betting my cash, I'll go with Darren this time.

JAM could let you copy/paste and you would still need a spot!

Wow that is impressive, but I did sleep with my typing teacher in High School, that should count for something...SCHWING...MS. Washington:p:p:p

How many errors?

Increased producitivity is the name of the game in my industry! At $6 per audio minute, as one example, it definitely pays the bills. I can type one audio hour in two, maybe three hours tops, depending on the subject matter and speed of the colloquy -- 99.9-percent error free!

Same question to you as to "shinobi." How many errors?! :p

Less than two when I was tested, but that was many year ago, now I can barely get through ten words without hitting the backspace key several times:cool::cool:

Why all the drama ?

Two gladiators agree to do battle in the pool arena for all of us to sweat...should just be who do you like ? how much do you want to bet then...period...
