Django Bustamante question

I have heard tons of stories about the Filipinos gambling and winning here in the states and only a few occasions where they lost. Buddy vs Efren, and Jose Parica once told me out of his own mouth that Johnny Archer was the only person to beat him rotation games for the cash. But here is my question, who has ever beat Francisco for the cash here in the states or players abroad. Please post the gambling stories, I love to hear them.

He once played archer for 10,000 a set think and archer broke and ran out the set on him( race to ten or eleven I think) busty looked at archer and asked him to raise the bet lol. Archer couldn't believe it and simply shook his head no. Busty wins that next set and archer unscrews. That's the way I heard it.

2500 bucks, not 10k is the story I've heard.

Archer signed the table afterwards...I think someone has posted a pic of it on here at least once.

Did any of the other top American players try their hand with Busty through the years? I did hear that Rodney Morris beat him gambling in a long ahead set once. Any details?

He's a GREAT money player that's for sure

We played 4 sets at Hardtimes in LA and broke even, and I lost in Chicago the first time we played. I could elaborate, just no time right now. He's a GREAT money player that's for sure. Of course there's the time Efren and I played for 20k in Seattle too, and I've told that story on Face book, not sure about on this forum.

Play Well

You've mentioned it here only about a dozen times. You getting old?

I don't know about that one. But I was in Las Vegas back in the 80's. Me and Delbert Wong. And Francisco beat Rodney. This was at the Cue Club. The bookie out of Detroit staked Francisco.

Wasn't that in the 90's?

Archer tells the story on the TAR podcast, so there should be no hearsay.

Did Mark and Justin ask Busty to tell his side?

Freddie <~~~ three sides to every two-story building

Busty

I saw Jim hill beat him one time at tacony. It was for a significant amount but I was only there one day, but I do know the Jim took the cash on that day. I'm sure he was getting a huge spot they were playing one hole.

He ran 2 racks, they started the set race to 13, JA runs out the set, Busty didn't get out of his chair, didnt even get a chance to kick at a ball. So he ran 15 it was on a old Diamond box with super deep pockets. Busty said "Tails".

That was JA's biggest package ever. I dont recall what happened after that. I have heard JA tell the story many times.

Also JA said back in the 90's overall Busty was the most difficult guy to beat. He told me for a while it was Efren, Buddy, Earl, Mike Sigel etc, it kinda rotated, who was playing better, everyone has ups and downs. So It was just a case where Busty was the toughest the longest or most times. Which makes sense cause Buddy, Nick, Mike, Efren were all older, Busty is about the same age. Earl is a hair older too, JA had his hands full lots of times. imagine having to beat those guys for 30 years to eat, brutal.

IIRC, there was an article in Billiards Digest about you and Bustamante gambling in Chicago area (I think by George Fels) he spotted you the eight and beat you, then maybe the 7 was discussed? The writer said you wanted to quit gambling after this. Please give us the straight scoop when you can:thumbup:
