Does anybody have any information of these Japanese cue makers ???? Adachi, Ishigki, Yoshimura, Keith Andy, Mezz, adams. I know of Mezz Bill Stroud helped Mezz- and no I haven,t goggled any yet.

Mezz

Mezz is an excellent production cue. They have been in the business for a long time. I think they were under contract to produce other name cues for a while. When that was over they came out with their own line, which is IMHO probably right up there with Schon.

i have a mezz and i've owned 5-6 over the years. they're good cues.

If you're going to mention Bill Stroud, then you have to mention Richard Helmstetter and his association with Adam, though MADE in Japan was started by David Forman who doesn't sound Japanese to me.

I just helped my friend get one Mezz.
I don't think you have many choices of buying Japanese production cues in N.A. Mezz is one good choice. But what else??

RC3 Richard Helm-

My bad, richard did make great cues, I played with plenty in the 70's. especially those with the big wooden Pin. thanks to all that have responded so far. I know somebody just has to have info on the other makers- JP makes so many good things- Knifes , Cars, Powerhouse billiards was huge in JP with like 10 Poolhalls, with cuemakers in some.thanks to all readers and posters!! I know some poolhalls were closed because of all the ivory being used. mark

you want specs or something let me know. i've got a mezz and a set of calipers

Ishigaki no longer makes cues these days, but if you pester him, you can get him to do some light repair work. Lived right down the street from him.

I have a Balabushka GB4 which, to my understanding, is made by Adam cue company in Japan. It's my first nice cue, so I can't compare it to anything else. I like the way it plays and the way it feels. My only complaint is that it doesn't meet my expectations in terms of build quality for the price. I can feel the inlays and ringwork if I run my finger over the seams. But boy do I like the aesthetics of the cue!

I have been impressed by the looks if the Keith Andy cue and I would love to hit one but with the dollar being down (compared to the Yen) I cannot afford one. Also the bamboo shaft from Adams looks nice (the bs158shaft).

yo man i want to try one of those real bad but nobody has one for anything close to a decent price

Adam cues, not Adams, are a dime a dozen. They are production line cues that go from real cheap entry level cues to some that can be a bit costly. Mezz is about the same. Keith Andy are full on custom cues but, in my opinion, way overpriced. Also, there have been no pool halls shut down because of ivory. Where do you people get that kind of crap?
