With some more gambling between now and then I am prepared to WILL Earl on to one more prestigious victory. :p :p :p :p :p :p

EARL STRICKLAND - US OPEN CHAMPION 2007.

ONE MORE TIME!!!

Get rid of those leg irons, Earl. You don't need them. You are FREE AT LAST! :)

JoeyA (determined to bring Earl around) :D

Since no one commented, I guess I will. I'm a big Earl fan - regardless of his weirdo actions at times. No one floats the CB around like he does when he's right... hence the license plate on the silver Porsche that read: 5XUSOPN

There was a year since 2000 when he should have won in my opinion, but a legal jump with a shortie-cue that was about 2" from the OB cost him a match with Neils. Otherwise, NC-DOT would have made 6XUSOPN. He's like Nicklaus.... look how many top-10s he had where he didn't win, all very close. Otherwise he might have 10.

No one would be yelling louder than me if he won...... I can hear the convention center rumbling now... "EAAAAAAAAAAAAAARL!!!!!!!!!!!!!" It'd be great because everyone roots against him now. Earl, if you're reading this - win one just to stick it to everyone! :)

i think earl is a huge talent and either the greatest or 2nd greatest player overall in the last 20 years.......but until he gets his head right and loses some of the stinkin thinkin, i just dont see him lasting thru a large event like the us open.......youre talking about a whole week of play.

Fukem Earl, win one for the poor, non-pro playin', wannabe pro, scuffler in all of us. I will be probably playing this year, too. So, best of luck, unless you draw the Craw.

This is getting better all the time. Your post rings of TRUE EARL APPEAL. LOL, hell, you've got me belly laughing.

The U S Open is over already? Man, that really did sneak up on me. Who did Earl beat in the finals?

I'll be rooting for him as well. A 6th U.S. Open 9 Ball Championship would go nicely with his 6 World 9 Ball Championships.

We will never again see that kind of accumulation of these two major championships. Who's ever going to catch THAT record?

It was a balmy day, not really one that you could call hot, but you could feel electricity in the air. It was the 20th day of October 2007 in the year of our lord. Earl had committed himself to facing the demons on and off the rectangular slate and had prepared for this match all of his life. He stood quiet, composed and prepared with that unyielding conviction on his face that pool lovers have come to know that personifies winning. Earl in sync with the game, the world and himself, quickly closed out the set with a simple break and run. His opponent, slowly stood, slightly bowed his head toward Earl and beckoned the crowd as they cheered his name over and over. Earl..EARL...EARL ..... EARL......EARL!

Now you know the rest of the story.

I like you Joey, but Earl has ZERO chance. His time has come and gone. He WAS a great one though!

Thanks Jay. I like you too. I have always been an optimist and while the chances are EXREMELY SLIM for ANYONE to win the U.S. Open even once, I have hope that Earl has one more major left in him.

By your post I can only imagine that your realistic odds against him winning this year's U.S. Open 9 Ball Championship must be in the hundreds to one, eh? :D :D :D :D :D :D

GO EARL! :D

From what I've seen and heard of Earl lately, his game has fallen off quite a bit. Don't know if it's mental or what. I would give him a little more than zero chance, he's still under 50 years old. How much chance did people give Jack Nicklaus in the 86 Masters. Or George Foreman in regaining the heavyweight title at 40+ years of age. I'll be a sucker and take a little sweat bet at 100-1.
