Hi folks,

Bought this last week thinking it was a "Wayne" Custom Cue as advertised.
Here is the link . . .
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7139368524&ssPageName=ADME:B:BN:US:1

Starting bid of $185 - "But It Now" for $350
I was the only bidder and won it for his reserve price of $185.

My main playing cue is a Wayne custom made for me and that is the ONLY reason I bid. I know Wayne makes 4 High 4 low 8 pointers cause I've seen them. Here is a link to one . . .
http://www.billiardwarehouse.com/cueobsessions/wayne/wayne_custom_pool_cue-5.htm

Anyway, cue comes today and who knows what it is. Do you guys have any idea. I'm feeling a little E-Bay burned. I should have asked more questions I guess. If it is just some random Cuemaker named Wayne I guess the seller did not lie.

Here are pics that I just took . . . Signature says WTR or WTK, I really can't tell.

Do any of you folks know what this is? At least the points are not painted on! The stripes in the butt are veneers as well but I am still mad. Negative feedback time.

Thanks,

forabeer

forabeer, con artists thrive on those with larceny in their hearts. were you thrilled nailing the item for $185.?

Try to work it out first! Be polite and don't assume he knew it wasn't a "Wayne" cue - judging by the ad, it looks to me like he believed it was a "Wayne".

Try contacting him before giving negative feedback. If you paid through paypal, especially on a credit card through paypal, you might have recourse. The item is definitely not as advertised - most reputable sellers would give you your money back.

If you leave negative feedback, I guarantee you the seller will reciprocate. Since you only have a moderate amount of feedback, it will hurt you a lot worse than it will hurt him. For $185, it's not worth it to mess up your E-Bay feedback.

As far as the cue goes, I don't recognize it, and I don't recognize the initials. It's probably an import - if you can identify the wood that might tell you.

Never will I buy a cue from Ebay

I have heard more stories lately about ebay and cues ! I guess my first question to the sell was it a "wayne" ! LOL! or a Wayne Holmes"! ? well that is unless I did not want to alert him that it might be worth more! Sorry for your loss but as Chris says he may refund your money and try to sell it to some other s... purchaser :D

Hey, You may want to try Gary Wright of Cousins Cues. Their cues have the veneers in the butt as well. The pictures you have seem to have a couple more rings than what be normal, but it could be another alternative. His older cues did not have the cousins logo on the butt cap... or at least I hope they don't because mine doesn't :D

Good Luck!

It looks like a nice cue for 185. If it plays well, I'd be happy.

I can agree with that. However, if the "deception" is the one that really pisses you off, then I would go for the one of the alternatives suggested. ;)

One more suggestion. Since the seller is "Powerseller" he is held to a higher standard than typical members. If you look at his feedback he has over 300 positive and 1 negative. That is about as good as it gets, especially since he is primarily a seller.

I truly believe that he will give you a refund under the circumstances and I do not believe he had any idea this wasn't a "Wayne" cue.

I recently sold a pretty rare collectible cue on E-Bay. It went for almost $1400. The buyer was a new E-Bay member. When he got the cue, he did not like the "hit" which was firm and crisp - one of the better hitting cues I own. I took it back.

As much as it grieved me to undo all that was done on that auction, I really didn't want someone who was basically my "customer" to be unhappy with his purchase. I have a 3 day return policy, no questions asked, buyer pays round trip shipping. That was the 2nd cue I had to take back out of probably 50 sold. I figure that's a good enough ratio.

hi-Chris, that guy deals in cues all the time ,I think his auction was misrepresented their! he knows as much about cues as you do.

"that cue did look cheap looking in the auction thought"

but like you said he should email him and ask for a refund on that cue before doing anything like leaving a bad feedback,

don't jump the gun, your'll get more done by talking to him first.

Steven,

You sure are right about that. He didn't do his homework on this cue. At least he didn't call it a Rambow or a Balabushka!

No larceny in my heart dude. We are not talking Thomas Wayne or Wayne Gunn here. I have a Wayne Holmes cue and it is a lot of cue for the money. He also makes cues in the 4 high 4 low style and I (wrongly) assumed it was a Wayne Holmes cue. $185 + $18 shipping is what I though would be a really good E-Bay deal for me, nothing more.

Thank you. I did just that and he says he will take the cue back - I pay for shipping.
He still says it is a Wayne Cue though and when he tells me Wayne "who" I will let you know.

Thanks again,

That's fair.

Here's my suggestion - leave no feedback on him at all unless he leaves you feedback first. If you leave a positive first, he might just stick it to you - you never know! My bet is neither of you will leave feedback first.

That is not a bad lookin q .Did u hit a ball with it ?
I like the look and i jus love the price .Hook me up with the guy..

I'm a long time ebayer and I believe people are generally good. I would simply ask for a refund. I have also asked sellers to give me a specific amount and let me keep the item.

that's the chance anyone takes on e-bay when the cue is so far away...i too would be nice to the seller and ask..But bottom line you will be stuck with it..that's why i only deal with reputable firms that deal with this stuff.........

Why not send photos to "Wayne" and see if he can identify it, before you ship it back? Just a thought!

I sent Wayne photos Monday and he said he has no clue who the cuemaker could be. I knew immediately upon opening the cue it was not his because of the signature. But I sent him pics anyway and the Ebay description. He said there was a guy in Arkansas a couple of years ago copying his cues and singning them "Wayne" in gold ink just like his. He said he solved that problem and he also said that this cue in question was not one of those fakes from Arkansas. Oh well, I was stupid to assume I guess. I did'nt ask the seller enough questions and why I did'nt talk to Wayne Holmes before I bid is beyond me. I think it is because it looks like it could be one of his cues. I am now thinking I will just keep the cue as punishment for being naive.
