What are your favorite bands or music
to listen to while playing?

I personally enjoy classic rock (60's & 70's)
foghat, zztop, black oak arkansas, grateful dead, etc, etc.

Classic Rock and, occasionally Disco, especially KC and the Sunshine Band or Donna Summer

when I shoot 9-ball, I like what I call 'angry' music, like Pantera/Damageplan, sure was a blow when that crazed fan shot "Dimebag Darrell",,,,I'm more middle of the road when I'm shooting 8-ball and like70's and 80's classic rock, then,,,,

YES! In case you didn't know I love these threads!

The best song to shoot to ever is Flake by Jack Johnson....the bass line kicks! The second best song to shoot to is Boat Drinks by THE Jimmy Buffett, although I must pause any play during the musical break before the last verse so that I can count and sing along. I dunno why that is, as I can shoot and sing along at the same time to all of the previous verses.

Recently I have become very keen on 311, Sublime, and RHCP while at the table.....I guess I'm in the funk rock period of my life??

I am also fond of Van Morrison, Al Green, Chicago, and UB40 while in the game.

Really anything works.............

We are next to a college town and when the kids come in on the weekend they like that loud ass whiny Rasberry or something music. The players just start to fold up their cues and head for home. Tho i never listen to him anywhere else Sinatra is great for soothing music while concentrating on a high run in 14.1. Commodores, Four Tops, The Isley Brothers, for some one pocket. Strangely enough I like old country music like Tammy and George Jones and Merle for 9 ball suits me fine as well as Santana. Dont ask me maybe its the flashbacks from the 60's.

even though I'm on the short side of 60,,,,I like a lot of the relatively new groups, too ! 'Blackeyed Peas', 'Bloodhound Gang', 'Godsmack', 'Hoobastank', 'Maroon 5',
'Nelly', & 'OutKast'.

I like this song, i dont know the name of it but it says "Run Em' Out" thats my pool playing song.

To help me get in stroke I play listening to Old Metallica and other Speed Metal bands. I also dig some Classic rock tunes if I am in a mood to just shoot em around and have some fun.

But, to tighten up and shoot my best, Speed Metal is my 1st choice...

This is rather eclectic, but I like to listen to Ol' Blue Eyes (the one and only Frank Sinatra), Dream Theater, Joe Satriani, and Steve Vai. And yes, the jukebox at my homeroom (Babineau's in Cary, NC) does have all of these!

personal favorate is Saliva / Superstar :) the song played at the end of Poolhall junkies lol.

But mainly i put in a variety anything from Saliva, Nickleback, def leppard, Jimmy Buffet ( cheeseburger in paradise ) lol that will kill anyones momentum lol. Or some Big N Rich, Tobey Keith, Garth Brooks, or Brooks n Dunn.

I always enjoy hearing "Werewolves of London" by Warren Zevon come onto the Juke Box when I am shooting. It is a instant 3 minutes in the zone for me.

Dream Theater is my choice as well. Also some "easy" guitar rock such as Pink Floyd and Dire Straits suit well with playing pool. Hard rock, like Pantera, Marilyn Manson, Rage against the Machine, Rammstein etc. suit well with 9-ball, but with 1pocket I prefer easier music with less pace :)

Know it, love it, and many others, but you've hit on the problem with most music, only 3 minutes worth... When I'm practicing at home I prefer some good classical music like Bachs Brandenburg Concertos, some Mozart Piano Concertos, etc. They tend to be a more flowing and continuous beauty, just like my pool game :). If I listen to Clapton, Dire Straights, Steely Dan, etc I may start playing air guitar with my cue and that's always bad for my game :(

Just remember to limit the air guitar part between shots, not during warmup strokes ;)
