I just won my first pool tournament and I feel like a real bad @ss. The key to winning, however, was focus and my opponents in the small neighborhood tournament noticed it with disdain. I acted neutral toward them just to remain focused and it really helps get that competitive edge for winning. Dancing $$'s here I come!

I remember my first tournament win! I was on cloud nine the whole week!!!!

I remember one of mine in particular was at a rinky dink town that barely had a bar, post office, and a stop light, yet it drew almost 30 shooters for their weekly tourney. They had a light that flashes words/specials and tourney winners across the bar. Well, I won one of those tourneys and got to see my name in the lights the following week when I returned to defend.... :)

Congrats on your first win....I am gonna have to remember the term "bad ass" next time I play...lol

You got it, winning is not a popularity contest, read my post on racking, it goes into this. Vince Lombardi on a football field or Atilla the Hun did not want to be your pal, you were the enemy and they were just going to kick your a**, the fans in the stands knew it, the opponents knew it, the mayor knew it, the pope knew it. This invokes fear in the opponents, invoke fear, 90% of them have lost when they hit the first ball, mentally they have accepted defeat and you have to do just one cool thing, like run a rack and they fold in front of you. You come to the table saying over and over, no fear, fast and loose, just run over these guys.
:D
