You wouldn't have people jumping up to defend Shane if there weren't a bunch of America haters ready to pounce on every missed position he has.
I didn't hear people creating threads on how bad Gorst is after he missed like 3 straight shots in a row; however, Shane has a bad match after going to the phillipines and destroying all comers and people go apeshit about how he's washed up...

Shane has been an inspiration to all the junior players in America for quite some time. In Amercan pool He is a bona fide world champion and a wonderful statesmen for American pool players everywhere.. He is a no brainer for The Mosconi Cup and a welcome asset....

Shane is pure class and a very positive inspiration and role model for the young players coming up and anyone who loves this game. He's a true champion and absolute legend in this sport. Mad respect for this man. He deserves nothing less. It's not about kissing his ass. It's about giving recognition where it's due. He doesn't ask for it, he just gets it by being who he is. Apparently it's because Mike Dechaine accused SVB of an inappropriate relationship with a minor. I have no idea what the facts are, but that's the accusation.

I don't know Shane & have never met him, but on this forum where irrelevant minutiae about players' lives can easily generate a 5-page thread, I've never heard anything remotely this strong.
Plus, there are people on here who actually know SVB (JAM, Fatboy, Jay, SJM, etc.) or do business with him....High profile sponsorships, etc. I doubt long time respected posters such as Fatboy would publicly vouch for someone if they are a dirtbag.
I saw the original thread years ago. Seemed to me at the time that MD had gotten a little tipsy and made an ill advised post on FB concerning SVB and his girlfriend/fiancee, not sure. either way it was soon pulled down and MD apologized.
