What cue makers are doing their own full splice cues (as opposed to acquiring blanks elsewhere)? I'm particularly interested in butterflies.

Thanks
Don

just a few

If your looking for fullsplices and butterflys than Paul Fanelli is your only choice. Other people making full splices are, Mark Bear, Darrin Hill, John Davis, Prather, Herck of course and thats all I can think of right now. These are all people who make them with veneers.

Billy Webb, would be a good choice, his username on the forum is Spliderwebb. I know he has some cues almost complete and his work is certainly top notch!!!!!!!!

If you can get butterfly out of Dave Barrenbrugge, you will own a cherished work of art, but it will be expensive, probably in the $4,000 + range.

More affordable, beside the full splice makers mentioned, Scott Whisler makes them as well.

My favorite full splice blanks right now are made by John Davis.

Does Dave even take US orders? I thought he was under contract with Lucky for good.

I'm just newly getting into buying custom cues. There is much I have yet to learn and I don't understand this post. Why would there only be one guy making full spliced buterflies? All these other guys are making full splice cues with veneers but not butterflies... is this to say that there is something mutually exclusive about veneers and butterflies?

I have had one cue maker tell me that a butterfly splice is too weak and would require an internal pin for support. If I remember correctly, this conversation was in the context of a single veneer between. In this same conversation the cue maker told me that the wedge shaped splice used to do butterflies results in a butt that is too stiff. Any comments?

Thanks
Don

There have been some good cuemakers mentioned already. Paul Sumrall of S&S custom cues does his own full splice with veneers, but I'm not sure that he has done any butterfly spliced cues. Give him a call @ 806-778-1957.

Also, if you want butterfly cues, but not full splice cues....Steve Klein is also a great choice! www.kleincues.com

I did not mean to imply that only Paul could do butterflys. Im sure all the others are more than capable of doing them but if you do a search and see pauls work than you will understand what I ment. His work just looks so confusing and complicated.

I forgot about Billy Webb I like his work alot as well.

Some times you get better results if you go into the cue galery or the wanted for sale fourms and do a search for fullsplices to see whos making them and the quality you are looking for.

Good luck in your quest.

Do you mean full splice like in this pic? If yes, then I do.
