Are you painting the skirts tangerine? 🟧😃

And please never polish a purple 5 ball. 🙏🏼

That’s such a beautiful project the feet are the nuts!

Thx for the update,
Fatboy🥰
Thanks, man. I'll be painting it blue to match my table, light and wall rack.

No purple 5B's allowed.

Someday I’d like a tangerine GC1 and matching ball polisher.

I like all the GC1’s but you did the blue. Would be cool to have a tangerine setup like yours somewhere else.

Fun stuff,

Enjoy!

My buddy bought the brother table to mine and painted it tangerine. I built him the matching light as well and he painted that tangerine and white too. Our tables were in a bowling alley bar since the 60's. We bought them and restored them at the same time. The lighting throws the white off but it's the same color white.

I love those old GCs. When I get down on the shot i feel like I'm doing something important.

The cabinet is done! One I get the Formica for the lid, I can put this project to bed.

As designed, it tucks nicely under my Gold Crown I.

100 years from now someone will end up with this polisher in an estate sale or something and they will be going crazy trying to figure out how many Brunswick polishers like this were made and why they cant find any info on it.. 🤣🤣

Made some progress yesterday. I routed the laminate to size. It trimmed up nicely with no chipping which is a testament to getting the surface as flat as I could with the side panels and circular opening a true 90° to the top.

From there, I cut the groove around the perimeter of the top to accept the stainless trim (rough cut at this point). The trim is slightly proud of the mating surface to mimic the rail trim on the Gold Crown I. Clean cuts here too and the intersections at all 4 corners are 90° which again is attributed to ensuring all surfaces were true (flat and plumb).

A small bump in the road that needs attention. The corner pieces I got do not contour the quarter round of the corners. I'll have to see if the manufacturer offers a different profile corner piece or my buddy Dave (who has a machine shop at his house) and I will have to fabricate something. It's not a big deal. It just may take some thought and a little work.

Inching closer to paint and finishing up.

Absolutely fantastic job. Looks great and I am sure it will work as good as it looks. One thing you might want to consider is building a top for it. I did that with my Diamond ball polisher for several reasons. I didn't want dust collecting on my polishing surfaces, the open top wasn't the best looking thing and since I keep it sitting in my pool room it can double as a place to set something or sit down. Here are a few pics:

Thanks! It spirals the balls just like a Diamond polisher.

It will be stored under my table. I plan to make a cover for it so it doesn't get scratched up when the bridge is accessed.

Where did you get 1" thick plywood? I thought that was a typo, until I saw the picture and it really does look 1". Any reason you chose that instead of 3/4"? Sucker is going to be heavy!
You can get plywood as thick as 1.25”. My father and I built his shop using 1.25” tongue and groove plywood for the floors.

It's getting there. My buddy Dave and I (he's got a full blown machine shop at his house) fitted the metal trim pieces, got the holes drilled for the sites and glued the sites in place yesterday. Today, I screwed and glued the trim ring mounting bracket and glued the trim ring in place. I should be able to paint it next weekend then all that's left is the final install of the metal trim around the edges which should go pretty quick.

Absolutely amazing! The rail sites really add to it. Very possibly more valuable than your GC1 table!

I’m guessing you have far more labor in it than the 15-20 hours that you originally estimated?

Thanks!

Maybe 25 hours. It's sat idle for a while due to the delay in getting the laminate and the trim pieces. Add in starting a new job the beginning of June which limited my availability to weekends. Once painted, I'm going to give the paint a good month to cure before I install the metal trim pieces. The installation shouldn't take more that 15 minutes. The pieces are ready to go. By mid August it should be 100% complete.
