Good rooms in the New Haven CT area?

Hey guys. It's been a while since I posted because I'm moving again.

Basically just got my house completed after owning it less than two years and I got a new position within the company so I am moving back to CT!

Probably be in the area spanning Woodbridge to North Haven, so I mention the NH area as the 'target'. I still make trips up to Pool Table Magic as I "grew up" with that room since the South Road days and Mark is a good friend.

Anyway, looking for closer rooms to shoot for a quick hour or two when I have some time. I hope to install a table in the new place, but it all depends on where we end up and what kind of space we have there.

Thanks guys! Looking forward to your answers!

There is Blue Cube in Orange on the Post Road, very nice upscale place with approx 10, 9 ft Olhausens.

Also, Cue & Brew in Branford apparently just redone following a smoke damage situation - haven't been there since the remodel but heard it's real nice.

And finally, Yale Billiards in Wallingford has a number older 9' Gold Crowns in decent shape.

Welcome back home.

Best,

Thanks, Brian.

The blue cube did look good on their web site, but its easier to make a nice web site than a nice room.

Good equipment is important; however a good atmosphere is too. I prefer to not need ear plugs for the music.

There was another place I saw on-line, I think it's in Hamden just off Dixwell Ave, near the Home Depot. I remember where it is because I was looking on Map Quest for the location, but have not been there yet. Maybe I'll swing by today.

Do you play in any of the rooms you mentioned Brian?

I played in tournaments in Cue and Brew about 15 years ago. Back then it was the second floor of a huge building and they had at least 30 tables in there. Is it the same place? I saw a sign on rt.1 in Branford the other day but no time to check it out...

Thanks for the info! Maybe I'll see you around some time.

Hamden: towne billiards
branford: cue and brew Not the one you mentioned. Completely redone, very nice. I might be able to put up some pictures later in the week, Just got a new camera. Bfd would be my first choice.
Milford: blue cube, olhausen tables I think,
lots more,. Ct. has no shortage of rooms.
look me up when you get to town if you want to play some.

Sounds good!

I'll keep everyone posted here. May go look at Towne Billiards in a while and see how it looks.

The (I guess) "OLD" Cue and Brew was a pretty spectacular room back in the day. It was sort of like a car dealership but it was tables everywhere rather than cars. Nicely decorated and well lit too. Good food and drinks too. I suspect there was not enough demand to keep a room that size open, but it HAD to be the biggest room in CT, if not New England at the time. Even Jillian's in Boston had fewer tables by my memory...
