When john and I were going over the details of our rematch he said I heard you ran 280, and then he said don't be my 403 ***** (female dog.) Well I mulled over this for a while and finally called him and asked him why he called me a *****. His reply was that he was just joking, and if that bothered me then I needed therapy. Going into the second day at the beginnig of our one-pocket match it's customary to shake hands, you know what does not make sense is in Reno at the IPT when Johnny Archer would not shake my hand after I handed him his defeat and knowone said he had an excuse for losing cause he did not like the rules they just said I was his monkey man. Well hill hill in the one pocket between Scmidty and I he went for the jump cue - - now the people at home don't know what was said but he told me I was acting like a little *****- all because I wanted to play under the rules that we agreed upon. All of the sudden he thought we used jump cues in Louisville for the One Pocket, this was a fib just like when he said he forgot to shake my hand at the beginning of our one pocket match. John out played me on the ten ball and that is that- my game is more geared towards 14.1 and the One Pocket anyhow. Personally I thought he was acting like a little ***** for wanting to change the rules, and questioning our verbal agreement during play. This all did create an excuse for me to get angry unfortunately and show my ass which is what he wanted.
I apolagize to the Action Report and any viewers for my behaviour, Buddy Hall told me once it's not the eyes that go first it's the nerves.

Sincerely, Danny Harriman

Danny - I hope everyone here appreciates your response & your candor. I appreciate your great skill @ the table, your heart to get up to play, & your honesty & integrity that you have shown here & to me in the past(something lacking in MANY a pool player).

grudge match? ;) this might turn into an ali- frazier thing :D oh yea this is an internet forum so careful Danny, anybody thinks there a somebody! ;)

I also appreciate your response to this as it was needed for anyone that witnessed the post match interview. As to the minor trash talking, are you serious? Are you saying that you've never done any trash talking to someone that you've played a lot in a joking manner? If so, then I find it hard to believe.

When someone jokingly trash talks me like that it motivates me to beat them so I can do the trash talking, but never has it made me mad or gotten me out of my game. I don't even know John that well, but I can assure you he wouldn't get mad if after I won the front nine, I told him he was my *****.

Danny

Just come back gunz-a-blazing in the rubber match.

Personally, I can't wait for Harriman Vs Schmidt III

BTW... congrats on the 14.1 the other night - that was some of the best 14.1 I've ever seen!

Im with you on this. I think a little rivalry is good for the sport.

Yeah I get that it's trash talking to say "...403 ******" but I would be pissed if someone said I was acting like a little ****** period.

But what I can't stand is when someone gets mad at me because I won't let them break the rules.

If John truly said that after not being allowed to use the jump stick which was against the rules then I would think John would owe Danny an apology.

2 sides to every story though.

Jumper

I don't know how I missed this, as I did watch the match. Maybe I fell asleep for a minute.

Was the jump cue used or not? John said he never used the jumper in his interview after the 10 ball was completed.

It will be interesting to see whether John chimes in here with his own version of the events.

As for trash talking, that is an age-old practice is pool and I am surprised it got you.

However, I respect that you "manned up" and offered an apology.

Good on you for that.

Regards,
Jim

I find it hard to believe as well. From all the buzz on the board today, I thought something scandalous must have been said or done behind the scenes.

Some small jive talk wrecked your mindset???

How do I say this diplomatically....Danny, you have some very, very well respected members here (Blackjack, JoeyA, etc) always supporting you big time. No matter what you do or say, you seem to always have so many people defending you or speaking on behalf of you. You have a large amount of fans supporting you. When you decide to compete, you have shown an amazing talent on the table. Your skills at pool are upper echelon, to be sure. So, with all the support you have, with all the talent you possess, why is it that, at least in my opinion, you have so many beefs with so many people? You seem to have a big chip on your shoulder at times.

John Schmidt is universally hailed as an epitome of a gentleman in pool circles. He is one of those guys who always seem to do things in a classy manner. Just from what you posted, if that little bit of "smack talk" took you so far out of balance that you reacted as you did, then I think you may have somehow forgotten all the playful banter and big time smack talk that is part and parcel of our great sport. Didn't you ever "woof" at anybody in your whole life as a player? It was never, ever done to you before John insulted your high run??

You didn't get to be a world class player by letting things get in your head.

I don't know you at all other than from what I've read about you here, in the magazines and from the matches I've seen you play in. But from my perspective only, if things go your way, you're fine. If not, you're not.

When Earl does something in response to out and out taunting, he is vilified.

If we were sitting next to each other in a poolroom, and I was able to say something to you, I would put my hand on your shoulder and say "Danny, what's really the matter? You got so many people pulling real hard for you. Fans out the kazoo. All the talent in the world. Why ain't you happy?"

There's people on this forum with CANCER, others who have lost loved ones so dear to them and THEY have great attitudes.

Count your blessings Danny. You have many of them.

John,
Congrats. You shot like a monster last night my friend. I owe you a drink or dinner next time our paths cross as I also got down on the match. As for your next adventure, lets play some golf. I've got a couple of great courses that we can play anytime free of charge.

Congrats John...nice job buddy. As for Danny, he is a great player and knows what it takes to be a champion. It takes alot of courage to come on here and give a response to strangers and expect them to take your side. I applaud him for that. I think a third match up with these two great players in inevidable and would be great for the sport and the fans. Also, thanks TAR for another stellar broadcast.

Just curious, did you guys agree to not use jump cues before the match?

Let me be the first to happily indorse the EZ-BRIDGE! It can be bought at AZB sponsor PoolDawg.com ("dogs" are out of style, geneticists have now developed "dawgs").

Note: the product description assures prospective buyers that both the APA and BCA approve use of the EZ-BRIDGE. I guess all hell would have broken loose if Schmidt had busted out the EZ along with his jump cue...
